I've had Tico for five days now and I've barely heard a peep from him. He'll squeak a bit if he's out of his cage hopping around and when I try to get him out. He mostly sits on one perch, stares, eats and drinks. His rope perch and toys remain untouched. Is he still getting used to his surroundings? I'm hoping this is normal. I know he's not completely tame yet, but he doesn't bite and I've gotten him to step up a few times; he flies off my finger after ten seconds or so though (well, as far as he can fly with clipped wings). He also likes to cuddle in my shirt and fall asleep in there :) So his quiet behavior is confusing me . I expected him to at least make some noise.

My birds are pretty quiet, they only make noise if they are playing with each other or I leave the room..other than that they are quite pretty much all of the time, although since they had their baby their way noisier  Plus if yours is still a baby its pretty normal for him to be quiet and let out peeps once and awhile. Give him time to get used to his surroundings :)

When Oliver was an "only" bird, he was very quiet. None of my three are over the top noisy, just chatty a few times during the day.
Your bird is still very new to his new home and surroundings. I'm not at all surprised that he's unusually quiet right now or that he has not started playing with toys. Give him time and attention and you might try playing with some of the toys so that he can see you....that might spark his interest. Just talk to him often and he'll start to feel more and more at home each day. :) I know you've read here about all those "velcro" birdies but keep in mind, that doesn't happen over-night. :D
That you've gotten him to step up a couple of times is great progress! :D Even if he did it accidentally, it's the best first step. Keep at it! :D

Luna was very quiet when I first got her. It probably took her 2 wks or so to warm up to her environment and play and make noise. (of course, I didn't really see her during the day, so I could be totally wrong about that:whistle: ). As far as around me, it took her that long to make noise and things.

Be thankful for the peace because they are so noisy!
