Ok So I haven't had Keiko sexed yet but there is another behaviour she is starting to do....every time I touch her back she opens her wings and sticks her bum in the air...is this a mating behaviour? She is only 4 months old.
thanks

At age 4 months, Keiko is not sexually mature so I would have to question whether or not this is an indicator of gender. Usually, this is female behavior but I've not found it to be exclusively female.

Nope, not a for sure female trait, as my Bela(DNA sexed male) does this. You rub his back, he spreads his wings, and starts doing what we call the clicky, clicky dance, or mating dance. The one thing I did notice between Bela, and Lacey's wing spread is that Lacey would hold the position, while Bela does a quick wing flap sort of thing. The bum in the air though, makes me lean toward female, but they have fooled us before, so nothings a sure thing unless DNA sexed:rolleyes:

Scooter and Beaker are both DNA'ed boys and 5 yrs old, (no eggies yet to challenge the test) and they both do the wing-spread thingy when I pet them...
I still think its' 50-50 on Keiko's gender:)
