Recently, we've been taking Poe (male peach-faced) downstairs when we have dinner, putting him in his secondary cage and placing it on one end of the table so he can eat with us. All and all, he seems to enjoy being able to eat and socialize with everyone, but I'm not sure if we are spoiling him.
Thoughts?

Nope, I don't think it's ever too much. They are very social little birds, and they really do like to eat with you. All of mine chow down when we do:)

Nope!!! That sounds so cute! That is perfect socializing, eating with Poe around!
I had Kirby and Skittles on my shoulders a few weeks ago while we were having chinese food and they made their way down my arm to go eat the peas and rice. Little buggers ate the cooked onions too... but thankfull for everyone here who responded to my "AHHH ONIONS" thread told me not to worry if they were cooked!

Yes, you are spoiling him and why not?! Being able to sit at the table with the family is a great thing for the little social guys.
It's a good opportunity to try giving him some new foods while he's there too because we all know the food in your plate is always better than what's in his dish!:nyah: :lol

kiwi actually eats breakfast and dinner with us, at the table, with his own plate of food!! talk about spoiled!!
when we first got him, my husband said - absolutely no birds on the table while i am eating please. fast forward almost three years later, and hubby is the first one to ask where kiwi is if he's not at the table yet!! kiwi spends a large part of time on my hubbies hands or shoulders trying to share food with him!!
yes he's spoiled and i wouldn't have it any other way!!!

The best thing about having pets....you are allowed to spoil them! Unlike human kids, they should be spoiled every single day! :D

haha, that's what i say! my roommate keeps my bird company while at i'm at school sometimes (i've taught her the RULES!)...and she always comments on how spoiled francis is.
today, i left him downstairs while i went up to take a shower, and he knew i was upstairs, and i started to hear him chirp while i was getting my towel and other stuff together. by the time i'd got out the shower, he'd made his way down from his cage and was at the bottom of the stairs chirping. i sat at the top talking to him, because i didn't want to get him because i wanted to dry my hair first. well, the started hopping up the stairs!!! he made it all the way to the top. i had to cheer him on, needless to say, no, i did not end up drying my hair...
  :lol ;)

My lovebird perches on the rim of our plates and eats with us, its really cool, she is amazing. If i have someone over for supper that she does not know she becomes very territorial and will bully them when they try to eat , it cracks me up, lol, anyway in those cases I keep her in the cage with her own dish of goodies.

You are definately NOT spoiling Poe. In fact, I suggest getting him a playstand or a perch that can be put on the top of his cage and have him out and about. Of course, I know not everyone prefers to have birdies as dinner companions, but I don't feel right if I don't have a birdy picking off my plate8o .

I LOVE it when both the Monkeys eat off of my plate. It shows they are genuinly interested in interacting with me and accepting me as a flock member.
However... Chris' dad gets very angry when their feet touch the counter.
"They are filthy birds and they step in their poop all the time.. I don't want poopy feet on the counter where our food is"
:x it's called disinfectant lol

you know what's interesting - Kiwi never steps in his poop. He is extremely careful about avoiding an area that he has pooped on, even in his cage. I actually think he is cleaner than some dogs who like to roll around in, or eat (YUCK :omg: ) their poop!!

Talk about spoiled...we will put some down just for my lovebird, and do you think he wants that? No, he'll run up to us and insist on eating ours instead, even though it's exactly the same thing. Pretty Bad!!!
