Melody is on my shoulder, making a noise that reminds me of someone's teeth chattering when they're cold. I'm looking at her, and she's perfectly content, and her little beak is just chattering away. Needless to say, it's not cold in here.
It's not a typical beak grinding noise, but seeing as she was doing it at the same time that Milo was grinding his beak, I'm wondering if she's maybe come up with a variation of beak grinding?

Hmmm. Do you think she may be trying to imitate it by chance? A friends cockatoo does that by moving the bottom beak up and down rapidly. In a content fashion of course. Goof does this too, but without any sound. Hopefully she's not telling you "very" cold weather is right around the corner. :cold ................Michael and Goofy

This is exactly what she's doing.
I think Ammy does that too. Usually when he's relaxing or a bit drowsy, but generally content. It's like grinding but not quite the same...

Abbey does the 'teeth chatter' thing when I'm typing and she's sitting on my shoulder...could that be it??

Something new everday, huh, LOL. A few weeks ago I would have not known this sound, but Slater makes it. He makes it when he gets on my shoulder, and also when he and Bela are in the cozy, so I am assuming it's a form of beak grinding also. He also makes a noise like a screen door squeak as a warning noise, you ever hear that?????:lol

Fweet Fweet does it too. Everytime he gets near me he starts but he puts his little dance and head bobbing with it and turns in circles. He has just now added grabbing my chin with one of his feet. (very anoying!). I think she is so content with you and loves you very much. It is probably her way of showing it. Like a cats purr :) .
