Do lovebirds feel things well with their feet? Is it at all pleasurable for them if someone strokes their legs, for example?
Just wondering, as I gently petted a little leggie on a perch a moment ago...

Most birds are not particularly fond of having their feet/legs touched, while others will tolerate it. For birds, their feet are the equivalent of our hands and I've found that feet can be very sensitive.
Now, many of mine will do almost anything for a beak rub! :)

Beak and head rubs are definitely the favorites with my little flock! :) My younger two don't seem to mind my touching their feet but Oliver doesn't like it so I respect his wishes and stay away from his tootsies. :)

Hmmm... that's interesting. Is it possible that Tutti might like it? He certainly seems to be more than tolerating it.
Though it certainly doesn't hold a candle to a beak rub! Nothing like tose tilted heads and half closed eyes... :):):)

If he lets you do it and doesn't try to bite you, fly off or pull his foot/let away, then I'd say yes, it is possible that he likes it. They're usually pretty good about letting us know when they don't like something. :D

Kiwi lets me touch his feet, but I get the distinct impression he is only humoring me, and can't wait until I'm done. I like to warm his feet in the morning, as the room he is in can be cool. (yes..... I know I am such a nerd!!8o ) he stays perfectly still, but does his little growly sound, like.........Mom, you are embarassing me in front of the rest of the flock!! :( :lol

Toesies & feetsies should not be touched in our house. We will bite you :nyah:
Now, my brothers Blue & Gold will let me touch, play and hold his feet - especially if his feetsies are cold and my hands are warm :D

Tee hee, good point Janie!
He's such an easygoing fellow, it can be hard for me to tell sometimes. I suppose I would know if he affirmatively did not like it!

My guy seems to tolerate it well too. He even lets me kiss his tootsies sometimes.

Hmmm. I like touching Goofy's feet every now and then. He doesn't seem to mind it at all. When he's upside down in my hand I'll stick a finger into each foot and while he holds on make running motions. Other times it precipitates beak rubs and scritches. I know they are quite sensitive to the touch because unless he knows ahead of time your going to feel his feet or toes you'll be in for a big surprise.................Goofy and Michael

On occasion, Milo will lie on his back in the palm of my hand and allow a few kissies on his belly and feet. Other times I get a scaly little birdy toe up my nose.
Haku hates his toesies to be touched, only beak rubbing allowed. Ammy and Evie though are totally for the foot-rubs, both like to curl their toesies around my fingers while i rub them gently with my thumb. I kiss Evie's toes all the time, but i would not attempt this with Ammy, as the thought of Ammy's toe up my nose is enough to conjure up egyptian debraining images!!!! :lol
