Several of our members have females who are/were unbelievably sweet so I've not changed my mind. Hey, I've got a 50% chance of being right! :lol G-I-R-L

I'm going with boy. Because if I remember right, Estella is a lot like Peanut and I am hoping Peanut is a boy (but will of course love him no matter if he turns out to be a girl :) )

I'm using eye shape (or what appears to be eye shape in all the photos I looked at) but it's not a guarantee. There's always room for interpretation error, as it's hard to make a determination with some birds. Gabriel looks very round to me but Estrella is a bit harder. I'm still saying G-I-R-L........

(Christian, you have no idea how many photos of Estrella I looked at to find a good side view!!!)

this is my question, actually, I know everyone thought Baxter was a girl based on eye shape. which i see, its almond-but not all the time. sometimes it looks really round. what then? do almond eyed hens sometimes look round eyed but round eyed boys never look almond eyed?

I've looked at many pics too and think Linda found the best shot of him/her. I could swear there was still a little squinting yet. Hmmmm....I'm sticking with a ..................BOY :) ..........Michael and Goofy won't tell.

Ain't nothin' wrong with lovie hens! You sometimes have to deal with them a bit differently but, then again, no two birds are alike! :)

I love all my HENS! There's Babygirl, Betty, Zoey, Babiest Bubber, Shy, Spike,Cuddlebunny, Eva, Basil, and Olive. Not one of them is alike or the stereotypical hen you read about. Yes! Some get bitey, but not all them and not all the time :omg: .

Christian

I guess I'll spill the beans...

:snow2: IT'S A BOY :snow2:

It turns out I was right from day one..I just had this feeling he was a boy, from the moment I saw him!
Not that I wouldn't love him if he were a little hen, but I did not want the stress of egg laying and possible egg binding!

So, he really is momma's little man!!

Well, I'll have to admit I really had no idea whether Estrella was a boy or a girl. You could tell though from the beginning just by looking, this was a sweetheart from the very start :)....... Besides that, you could see it by looking into those pretty little eye's. 8o ;) .......Thanks Christian and Estrella for all the fun!................Michael and Goofy lovebird

Congrats on Estrella! I'm glad your feelings proved to be right :) .

I tend to prefer boy parrots too, not because I think hens are evil :vamp: , but because of the possibility of egg binding. Not in all types of parrots though, amazons and 'toos for example, I'd rather have a hen, and 'tiels I think are sweetest as hens too. Then again, I had my hen Pontus sitting on my chest last night, and I was giving her a head scritch and she looked so cute and comfy and relaxed and totally entitled in a way only a hen can look like (they're royalty you know) and I could only think, so what if you're the most destructive little bird ever hatched and you're just waiting for me to relax before going around looking torpedoed butt again, I still wouldn't change you for a cageful of boys. I know Janie is shaking her head in disbelief right about now :).

Anyway, I'm babbling. So Congrats on your little boy again!

:rotfl

Gloria, I'm convinced that you can SEE me through your monitor! :D

Even though I did have Shy and Big Boi DNA'd before I bought them, I knew there was a slight chance that either/or could turn out to be a hen and I promise you that even after the first day they were mine, I would never have returned either one had that been the case. Once they came home with me, there were mine, no matter what their sex! :D

I loved MJ's comments about loving a "spunky hen" and I am positive that I would, too. The two reasons that I wanted males were because I felt that would be a better match for Oliver (whew, that one worked out great) and because of the possibility of egg binding. Otherwise, I really would not care. Big Boi and Shy are only 2 1/2 so there is still that chance that I'll find an eggie one day!

Congratulations! I bet it is nice to know for sure. I don't know when I will have Luna DNA'd, I think I am scared... I know there are alot of people out there that love their little hens... I would love her just the same. I just don't look forward to eggs and the nasty nesties! On the other hand, I wouldn't have to worry about her "showing" her affection on everything! :D

WOOHOO! I knew Estrella was a boy :D Don't know how, but I kinda figured. I have one hen (I think), Olivia, and the others are all males. I love my little henny-penny, but my boys are all momma's babies. Even Olivia & Daises two babies I still have.

Usually, Estrella has more food in the cabinet then I do! Funny, my lovies do too. I even had to buy a chest freezer for their food
