......and, if so, what do you get them?

This is Baby's first Christmas, so I'm looking for ideas.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

This is Estrella's first Christmas also, and I thought about buying Nutriberries, Millet, and other treats and wrapping them up and letting Estrella tear open the gifts!

I don't exchange with my hubby.....or my birds! :D They do each have their very own stockings with their names on them, hung over the fireplace, but they don't get a single thing. I figure they are spoiled (rotten) every single day and they don't know Christmas from the Fourth of July.

well, i think i'm just as bad...
i bought personalized toy packages for the birds from birdy booty! you tell them all about your bird, likes, dislikes, personality, species, age, etc... and then they make the toys they think will be best for your bird. oh and they're pre-wrapped! i figure its the next best thing to me making them (certainly don't have time or the know-how to make really good ones). i'm eagerly awaiting my (oh i mean 'their') packages.
have i bought myself any xmas gifts? of course not!

Every year Chelsea, my Scottie dog, has gotten wrapped gifts under the tree from me and also other family members. It is a highlight of the day, watching her tear into her gifts in a way only a terrier can. :clap :clap

Why should my birdies be any different?

Although, in all honesty I just bought them the BIGGEST cage I could fit in my apartment as a Christmas gift, there will probably be a new toy or two for them as well.

SPOILED? YOU BET!

My pets satisfy the maternal instincts I have.:nyah:

I'm with Janie on this one. My birds get new toys, treats, etc..... on a regular basis, so I have no idea what I would get them new for Christmas. They do have their stockings too, and they always get to share a little Christmas dinner, so I guess that is something a little extra???? Not really, they get fruits and veggies everday too, so they probably just think I'm the crazy lady singing Jingle Bell Rock:happy:

Gosh, it is hard enough for me to figure out what to get for mine and my husband's families! Factoring in my furry/feathery babies is not an option! :D I love 'em but like Janie & Lori, I figure they don't know about Santa and we will keep it that way!

Cooper is getting some gourmet birdie food and some comfy yummy bottle brush perches for her cage. However Coope's christmas will have to come next month as I've spent all my money this month on gifts for the human species.

I guess I'm like Janie & Lori. I just went to the birdfair Saturday and spent a few hundred dollars on supplies. Doesn't sound like they need anything extra for christmas :lol I do give the outside birds extra food. I save my lovie's leftover food each day and then give it to the outside birds. During the winter I give them extra. :D

I have a bit of a bird toy addiction. I love to buy them and (un)fortunately for me, live near a few parrot and pet stores!

Here is a list of some of Beetle's favorites. Maybe it will help:

My absolute favorite toy manufacturer is Grey Feather Toys (www.greyfeathertoys.com). Some of my favorites (and Beetle’s as well):

Baby Possession, SS Hanging Treat Cup, Tweedle, Blizzard Toy Small, Tinker Bell, Maple Teaser, Lil’ Shreddin’ Bit and the Dazzler.

Chopper’s Toys (www.ChoppersToys.com) has a great selection to choose from. Some of Beetle’s favorites were:

“Nature’s Naturals” (Little Duster NT310, Skirted Straw NT303 and Little Twiggy NT333)

“Textured Tear-ups” (Willow & Reeds TT145 and Hula Baloo TT104)

“Pick Pluck Preen” (Rags TT124 – this was his “cozy” and where he snuggled up at night. He LOVED this toy and I buried him with it.)

I usually shop at one of the parrot or pet stores local to me. I get the Drs. Foster & Smith catalog (www.DrsFosterSmith.com) and often use it as a reference when I shop. Here were some that were enjoyed:

ZigZag shredder, Rainbow Bell shredder, Chewballee shredder, Maypole, Vertical Adventure, Paper Party Favor, Monsoon Chime Time and Summer Breeze.

Two of my favorite on-line shops, both of which carry some of the toys mentioned above:

www.mybirdstore.com and www.squawkstore.com

I get Christmas gifts all year long for Goofy lovebird. I think we call them "why wait for Christmas" gifts. :). I am getting a bit of an obsession with them though. Thank you Eliza and Beetle for providing all those wonderful links . I do like the "Choppers toys" one that offers all the parts. Been looking for that for quite some time. Maybe if we make our own I won't go out and buy a bunch more of them. But then again Christmas is coming :). I have to go out and get him something! :D ...............Michael and Goofy

Glad to help, Michael!

I don't know if Beetle liked toys as much as I liked buying them! I just went through his boxes and had at least a two dozen toys that he never got to use! OK, it was closer to 4 dozen when you include perches and swings... And I found a few dozen quick links that I saved from destroyed shredders and such. Ummm... yeah. I'm a shop-a-holic!

I always have grand ideas to make my own toys but I am lazy and am easily frustrated, so it's just easier to buy them. To be honest, some of the best toys that I've seen have been the ones that people make on their own. Plus it's kind of fun to do so, esp. when you see your lovie enjoying a specially-made toy :)
