Slim's date with the flock.

well, it didn't go as great as i'd hoped, but nothing terrible happened.
There was an initial investigation carried out by Rita, who kept Jeffrey and Baxter behind her. This was quite noisy. Rita went back and forth from being a bit aggressive to just sitting side by side with Slim. Jeffrey felt left out and Baxter seemed disinterested, which was a suprise since he'd shown the most awareness of Slim's presence and made a couple escape attempts to go see him.
I had slim out for about fifteen minutes or so, but put him back in his cage because Rita was getting a bit 'bossy' with him.
I left his cage near the others though. They all had fun hanging out on his cage and climbing around it. Then, Slim and Baxter got into a beak war through the bars. Again, i was suprised at this since Baxter had been so interested in getting to Slim before.
After a little while I opened the door of Slim's cage so he could go out if he wanted. he didn't want to.
I was suprised a the amount of apathy going around.:confused:
We shall see what happens after work today when they have another round of play time together.

Does this mean you decided to keep him? :D I don't remember reading that you had made a decision.

Hi Rachel. Just a wild guess here, but the first thing that came to mind was if Slim may have appeared injured to your other flock members. Instead of apathy maybe they are just being very cautious? Hopefully everything works out for all of your flock/family. Like Becky, I too wonder about your plans for keeping Slim but at the same time understand thats a very difficult decision that could take some time. I think many of us now have a real soft spot for Slim :p. And thanks to you he certainly goes into my book of favorite rescues :). Thanks for the update and looking forward to hearing how relations turn out later on..................Michael and Goofy

Also wondering if you are keeping Slim... He caught my heart in a special way too.
