Puberty? ohhh dear.

So last night I hear Chloe bouncing on her boing more then normal and I thought it was so cute how she was weaving in and out and jumping around. Well it was close to her bed time and I looked over to ask if she was ready for nite nite and what do you think I saw :omg: Something as a mom I dont think would ever want to see >o It took me a good 30 seconds for it to even cross my mins as to what she was doing. I thought she might of has poop stuck to her butt or she was just scratching....my friend then says "go Chloe" THEN it hit me! OMG! She was at the bottom of the boing where there are loose strings for preening. She had one rope in her mouth and was swooshing her tail. I can't believe how embarrassed I felt. >o :blush:

I know I hear stories on here and I know she would end up doing it...but in my perfect mind she wouldnt do it in front of me and she magically somehow would not lay eggs and get more hormonal (evil>: ) then she already gets...what a reality check. I got her to stop and put her away for the night.

My question is this(finally :) ) She loves her boing sooo much(obviously :rolleyes: ) should I replace it with another swing or something like it to maybe prolong the inevitable or is this something that once her hormones are going it doesnt matter what you do they keep going.

Does this mean shes going to start to make eggs? Or is it something that she just finds "cool"8) ?

Don't worry. Not only is this behavior normal, but it won't take long for you to get over your shock and embarassment8o . Lovebirds, and animals in general, don't have the social hang ups us humans do so, in Chloe's mind, there's nothing to hide from you8o .

I would not replace the boing. I would just make sure it stays clean and doens't have any edges or pieces that Chloe can hurt herself with.

No. Just cause she's humpin' her rope doesn't mean she will lay eggs. It's also hard to tell how much interest she'll show her rope over time. I've had lovies that are humpin' machines and go at it non-stop and others who are not at all interested.

peaches just started humping her happy hut about a month ago! i think she's in love with it.

Jack(ie) and Jingle Ball have been going at it hot and heavy for a couple of weeks.
