Can anyone identify this bird?

I periodically check out the birds available on kijiji in the Toronto, Canada area wondering if an older male lovebird might be on there as a friend for Squeaky.

Today this bird caught my eye - I don't know what it is and I don't think the owner does either!!

LOL it's a Turquoise parrot. Really, that's its name :D It's one of the small australian parrots.

After some research on the Internet, I am liking this Turquoise parrot. I have sent the owner an e-mail with some questions about the bird such as age, sex , and if it was living alone.

Does anyone here have any experience with Turquoise Parrots? I imagine our friends "down under" would have. They sound very similar to our beloved lovies!

They are sweet little birds, not exactly lovey and cuddly but can enjoy human companionship. They are pretty shy and quiet. The only ones I have known were in a free flight aviary, and I have been told that really, that's the only fair way to keep them as they need a lot of flight and space and company. (Sorry this wasn't definied properly: They should be kept as PAIRS but not more then one pair in each flight as the males can be really aggressive) They are types of grass parakeets, and they really haven't been developed as single pets yet. Now, in a large aviary with several species (They get along great with doves, budgies, bourkes, etc) and lots of room to fly and play... they are amazing. They do have a very pretty song. In my opinion you would be better off with a lovebird if you are looking for a pet.
