I find it takes my birds a day or two or even three, to get into playing with a new toy! Especially with a toy that big, my birds like to get used to the new "scenery" before they really become all caught up in swinging around and shredding stuff.

I think that some birds are more adventuresome than others, while others are more cautious at first. Especially my birds, because they aren't tame yet and I haven't had them that long - they are a bit suspicious of anything new.

What I would do is just keep trying -- keep bringing your bird out and letting him sit on it, and I think eventually he'll get a bit more excited about it, and as he gets more comfortable with it, he'll probably play on it, and enjoy himself!

My lovebird has his two or three naps almost every day. Right around noon he will snooze on me or the back of a kitchen chair for about 10-15 minutes and then its back to business. Late afternoon around 4pm he takes a shorty of about 5-10 minutes on his playtop perch. Then its holy terror until bedtime. He'll sneak in a third one at just about anytime if you sit and give him a treat or two followed by some scritches.........:D

I have two lovebirds my hen is very calculateing and will study and plan every move she is about to do sometimes for days, my male sunshine erned the middle name columbus because he just flys or hops any old place and explores every nook and cranny with abandon.
My point being every bird has its own personality even if they are together.
My birds also take several naps a day:)

I had to kind of laugh when I heard "my bird isn't doing anything". My bird isn't too keen on playing with toys much. I never see it playing with its toys. That's why I won't buy it a play center because I really doubt it will "play" on it. However, it does like to explore around on the kitchen counter for crumbs. I've also bought a bunch of different kinds of treats but it just won't accept any of them. It will only ever touch seeds and breads/toast. So, my bird doesn't really do a whole lot either but I'm okay with that. Maybe you should try teaching your bird some tricks on a little perch or something. Try making him turn around for a treat.
