what is Rita doing???

As you all may know, Rita enjoys the company of three gentlemen lovebirds. She is a bit violent with Slim, and attacks him whenever she has the chance, BUT when she is out playing she spends the whole time next to Slim's cage looking in, letting him feed her through the bars. She acts like she is in love with him, but if they are allowed to interact she chases him down and beats him up. :confused: meanwhile she is still buddy-buddy with jeffrey, does a little preening a little snuggling and regurgitation with him. She continues to lead Baxter on. She lets Baxter feed her but then will get sick of it and push him away (hence the beak injury i believe), but will never go after him the way she does with Slim. What is she getting at?

What are your lovebird's ages - including Rita?

I've watched Olivia do something similar. She loves her Daise, but will engage in heavy conversation with Piper to the point I think she would let him feed her. She has let one of her babies (male) feed her - once. She usually chases away the younger males though. Molly won't go near her - he's not stupid :whistle:

Rita is around 6 yrs old
Jeffrey is around 1 yr
Baxter is probably 1.5/2 yrs
No idea about Slim's age

It's hard to say what exactly is going on. Female lovebirds can sometimes get rough with birds they want to mate with. It may be she likes Slim but he's not into mating with her so she's angry :confused: :confused: .

Could be the males ages. Some females won't pair up with younger males. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Bird-Psychic? I know I could use one :rolleyes:
