Does anybody have one of these cages with the acrylic door? I think the bird wouldn't realize it was closed and fly into it... :omg:

Eddies old cage (before he moved into the penthouse :)) had an acrylic door. He never flew into it. It was actually good because it was harder for him to attach to the front of the cage to beg to come out.

He still uses that cage when he gets "bitey" while we hang out on the couch. It's the "naughty" cage. ;)

Wow Becky. Good question and nice cage! I like the sense of freedom idea :). Although I have no experience with these cages, I don't see where they would get enough speed to cause any injury to begin with. Maybe put a small strip of coloured tape in the centre just in case. I know there are "go outside" cages completely made of clear acrylic plastic with a plexiglass door. Really, I've never heard of any problems with those, but then I don't know too many poeple who have them.............:)

Becky,
It's really an attractive cage and a unique idea!

I would imagine that the birds just get used to the fact that the door is still there but it's clear like glass in windows. I have a large sliding glass door that leads to my lanai. The only birds that don't realize the doors are there are the ones who have never had experience with them. Once they know it's there, they just avoid it.

You can buy "static stick" plastic decals of things like leaves and butterflies to put on the doors as a precaution.

I kinda like the idea of a partial acrylic cage, if only to allow both the parrot and his or her parronts a better view!
