View Full Version : A chipmunk at heart

Last night Kit and I settled in with my little brother to watch the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. She's constantly with me and has watched plenty of movies before, so I figured it would be the same as every other movie. NOT!

As soon as those furry little darlings came onto the screen, she went absolutely bonkers! I've never seen anything like it! She climbed up onto the coffee table and would follow the chipmunks as they walked across the screen, bobbing her head all the while. :lol

The singing scenes were a whole other story; I've never heard her so loud before! It was almost to the point that you couldn't hear the movie! I don't know what brought that out in her, it must have been their high-pitched little voices or something. :D Blue, my brother's adopted budgie, joined in with the noisemaking. Combined, it was like a two-man circus!

It was just so precious, I had to share.
Are there any videos, tv shows or songs that sing to your fids' hearts like this did with Kit?

How cute! I am going to rent that video and I'll be sure to watch it while my lovies are still awake! :D I'll let you know how and if they react.

I'd love to hear if they react the same way!
It's definitely "her movie" now. ;)

I just wish my camera had been working.

Drac reacted similar. He was singing and bobbing along. Even flew near me(a big thing) and landed on my shoulder for a brief second.

Maybe it's a furry-animal thing. Chipmunks and meerkats speak soothing words to the birdies.

I've never seen Meerkat Manor, but I'll have to watch it with her sometime. They're so cute!

It must be the river dancers' legs, what with their hypnotic movements and all. :)

Hi Rowena and Kitten. Thanks for sharing one of those "special moments" :). You know, I don't recall any song, video, or movie show in particular that sets my lovebird off on a chattering spree. Although awhile back he did flap his beak over some Chinese music. I think it was the twingy twangys in the music or something. Run the vacuum cleaner on the other hand and thats where I get those amazing results. The only problem is he tends to stay perched on my shoulder as though to make certain I can HEAR him over the noise of the giant elephant bird :x. I must add that Goof does have impeccable hearing/listening capabilities. Any bird chirps he hears during a T.V. commercial or otherwise, especially those birds he see's and hears outside a window perch sends him into a reciprocating banter. Often I'm really not sure if he's welcoming them into his sanctuary or letting them know its best if they stay the h#ll away!!!..................

:D

I'm never sure about that one, either. Maybe a little bit of both?

I've heard the vaccuum thing before, and I tried it a couple times. Surely, Goofy could take on the vaccuum and win, right? :) More or less, the big loud monster frightens her, I think. We don't have many birds around our house, but when she does hear them, she tries her best to ignore them.

My bird's went wild when I watched BBC "The Life of Birds". :rotfl The raucous, from all the lovebirds and the finches was too much. I couldn't hear my TV. ;) So now and again I'll rent it from my library and play it for them, without any intention of watching it myself. :D

My niece and I saw Alvin & the munks at the theater. It was great! I haven't purchased the DVD, but plan on it. I do have the "Bird Sitter" DVD and my birds love it! They will fly to the tv cabinet and sit right in front of the tube and watch. I need to put a tv in their room

Cindy - That must have been a treat to get that reaction out of all of them. :lol How many birds do you have?

Yeah, I haven't heard of the Bird Sitter DVD either. It sounds interesting, though.

Alvin and the Chipmunks was really cute. I loved the cartoon when I was little, and so I was thrilled that they made a movie of it!

Usually if I'm watching t.v. at all Estrella throws a tantrum...he will fly over and sit on top of the t.v. screeching as loud as he can until I pay him attention.
However, if I pop in the Wizard of Oz he will sit quietly on my hand for about an hour and then go to sleep...

Yes, quite the treat.  Except, I couldn't watch the videos for myself. :lol

At the moment, I have fifty-one birds spread out between sixteen cages, including flight cages. Hopefully, within a couple of days, I'll have fifty-four, if the eggs that are fertile, hatch.

Here's one from a birdie website - http://birdieboutique.stores.yahoo.net/birdsitterdvd.html It shows the larger parrots, but my birds love to hear them on the dvd. They also make one for cats & dogs. I have the one for cats (my brother's cat who lives with me). My birds LOVE this dvd! I found it at the birdfairs here and I have seen it at Petco. The one for cats I got on clearance.

That's so cute, Christian! It puts him to sleep.

Holy cow! Fifty-one! I can't even imagine the noise levels, not to mention all the poop. :) Good luck with the eggs!

That sounds like such a cool dvd. I wonder if they carry it at Blockbuster? Probably not.
