View Full Version : He's home!
Finally picked up my male oranged faced blue/green lovebird! Cute cute cute!! He is a little devil! We picked him up on Friday and he is great! Extremely tame for a 6 week old, will not leave my side! He is at the moment snuggled into my neck, I have named him Sticky, because he may as well be, expecially when i put him back in his cage!
Hes not as noisy as i thought he'd be, lots of cute squeaks! Unfortunately, he wont perch anywhere but on me, he hates going back in his cage but Im sure he'll get used to it! When i put him down or somewhere else he just flies back to me so its tough getting photos at the moment! When i go out for a bit, i come home to him in his happy hut which is so cute! Here is one picture i managed to get the saturday!

Hi Gill,
Your new baby sure is cute! :) At age 6 weeks, are you still hand feeding or is he weaned? This may have come up in previous messages but it's something I always ask when babies go to new homes and they are under 9 weeks old.
One of the reasons he clings to you is because he's away from everything familiar and you represent security to him. He's very much a baby! As he gets a bit older, you will begin to see independence. Until then, just make sure he's getting enough to eat.
He is weaned, the breeder said she never lets them go until they are eating proper food! He spent about 20 mins in his food bowl this morning eating so i think he is ok :D He has been snuggled up to my neck for about 2 hours, Bless, i have fallen in love!

I dunno, Ditto is 5 years old and she just described him to a T!
I do hope he stays cuddly although i'd like him to stand other places for at least maybe a minute!!
Lemonypickett- yes it is Zupreem, i bought a bag of it from my breeder as she stated that it is very good for her birds and has always used it, he seems to really like it, he has been trying sunflower seeds too! But, i truely believe his favourite food to nibble on is my fingers!

I've even left him fully flighted hoping he'll want to go get into some trouble. But all it did was make it impossible for me to run away from him. Those little guys are darn quick. Oh and bring snacks to the couch so he can eat from my hand while watching tv (he loves hockey)

What a beautiful little boy! I think I could handle the cuddles.... I have 3 little black beaks at the moment and I just want to freeze this inquisitive, happy nosy little stage. There are no cuddles like lovebird cuddles.... especially the little 'gifts' they leave. :lol As Ive heard said on this forum before, An outfit is not complete without a little birdie poo on the shoulder.

Awww... such a darling!
My Beetle was an OF green lovie. He was a handsome lad, I can tell you that much :)
Enjoy him -- he looks like he'll make for a wonderful companion!
He's just spent the last hour all over me! running this way and that, pushing into my neck and trying to eat my phone, now.....snuggled in my neck silent! So far, poos havent been too bad, i notice his bum wiggle and can usually dodge out the way! Hopefully will try and train him with this! In 4 weeks time i will be picking up a female white faced turquoise, unfortunately, my wanting 2 males just isnt going to happen but im sure itll go fine with them! :D
