Hi. This summer vacation, i am planning to go to Cananda. I live in the U.S. I was asking do i need a permit or a requirement for my 3 lovebirds to go into Canada? And do i need anything when i am coming back? I've heard about permits but do i need them for lovebirds? What is required for me to take them to Canada and back? I plan on going in a train. Do i also need to buy a ticket for them? Thanks.

A quick Google search revealed this:
Bringing a personally owned bird from the US into Canada: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/anima/heasan/import/birds_usae.shtml
Canadian consulate in NY: http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/new_york/menu-en.asp
As far as the train? You'll have to contact the actual company that you are using. I'd imagine that you have to pay a fee, just like you would if you were traveling with your parrots on a plane.

My advice is to call and talk to whatever office time and again. I found in bringing our birds to the mainland from Hawaii that I often got different stories. I must have spoken with the agriculture department and the airlines 5 or 6 times each and got about as many different stories. I also suggest that you have a back up plan or two just in case.
