As some of you may know (from the photo gallery). I have a new baby Lilly. She is a little over 2mths old. I just recently introduced her to Luna my 1yr old lovie (July 4th was her hatchday). I knew from reading here that this could go many different ways, but I decided it would be worth it and if they couldn't live together then at least Luna would have company in a different cage during the day.

Anyhoo to my question:
Luna has reached sexual maturity and wants to mate so terribly bad with Lilly (not sure what sex either of them are) but Lilly is just a baby. Is this a bad situation? Luna preens Lilly to death and I really think it is wearing Lilly out so I really limit their time together right now.

Second question is:
They came from the same parents, so I am wondering if they can reproduce (I mean if they were male and female). This may be a dumb question, but I'm just not sure. Don't get me wrong, I do not want them to reproduce, I am just wondering. If any eggs do eventually result then I will take measures at that point to humanely get rid of them such as boiling or whatnot.

I know I probably should have had them sexed before I took on Lilly, but a friend had adopted her from the breeder that Luna came from. My friend for whatever reason did not want to keep her so she gave her to me. I have always wanted to get Luna a pal, but couldn't convince hubby to fork out the money for another animal right now. This was the perfect solution.

Becky, I can answer one question for sure. Siblings most certainly can reproduce if you have a male and a female.

I think that your limiting their time together right now is the best way to move forward. It was six full months before I felt entirely comfortable that Oliver would not be picked on or jumped on or over preened by Big Boi or Shy. Early on in the threesome relationship Shy did mount Oliver and I stood there, jaw dropped and then LMAO! Oliver looked at me like, "what the heck is he doing, mom?" Shy didn't try that many times because while Oliver didn't seem to hate it, he did let him know that it wasn't his cup of tea. Shy moved on to his birdie buddy in the future. :D

That is what I was thinking, I just wanted to be sure. Luna hasn't tried to mount Lilly, but everyonce in a while she gets really close to her and spreads out her wings raises her tail and sticks her butt up in the air. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what she is doing lol! :D
