Okay...so i've been complaining about Sunnybird not being a nice little velcro like my Maka was...

And we've had a breakthrough this weekend.

She likes to sit on my shoulder & has started preening my hair. She's even sat & beak grinded. She's played on my laptop & will step on on an arm, even while she avoided hands.

Today, she's decided that my fingers & fingernails make great chew toys & stuck her beak & head under.... even accepting a skritch.

When I put her back in her cage, she paces! Anxiously! Until I let her out & she climbs up onto me and will either sit nicely or jump on my laptop & try to nibble the keys off.

Awww! Makes it so hard not to have her out all the time!

Someone..., perhaps someone small and green, has you tightly wrapped about a little toe.

You mean it's possible to not have them out all the time  (When you are home, of course.) Buddy also paces if I don't let her out immediately. She doesn't have much experience pacing in a longtime :whistle:You probably shouldn't let Sunny talk to Buddy or you will soon have a super-glue birdie, not just a velcro birdie! Congrats on the bonding :)

I know!

I feel so guilty about putting her in the cage so I can eat, but if not, she's right there & i'm not always eating lovie-friendly food.

She has so mellowed out over this weekend! She'll go to my husband, and she cruised and beak grinded again today. All fluffy!!

I find with my nine birds, which are of all ages, the young ones like to be out the most. The older ones spend more time in the cage, even if the door is open. I can entice the older females out by hanging a pinata above the cage, but they go back in after a good chew.

I wouldn't feel guilty about a birdie going into the cage. Everyone loves boundries as long as they know they will get to come out again. Spending time in the cage teaches a birdie that this is their safe zone, and they learn to feel secure in that.

ohmigosh, this is how i feel with joey. he loves to sit on my shoulders and preen me and jump around on my laptop. This morning, I had to call my boyfriend for support so I could leave my house for work. Joey kept looking at me like, "why do you have to put me in my cage? I just want to play" and he made this sad little chirp and paced back and forth. So I'm weak and I opened up his cage again so he could sit on my shoulders as I put on my shoes. I look forward to the weekend when I actually more time to hang out with him.

haha, i have one for joey, but he prefers his mommy. He hasn't even discovered the swing in his cage yet. Or at least not while I'm around.
