Some of you might know that two of our birds have been caged together as needed. Bosco lost his mate, Betty, to cancer. Didgit was too much of a bully to share a cage with anyone else. However, Didgit and Bosco wound up living together, since Bosco knew how to back down to Didg, and Didgy didn't push the aggression. They don't fight, and we thought that was the best we could hope for.
Imagine our surprise today, when we saw Didgit soliciting Bosco -- prancing, clicking, flamenco, everything -- and Bosco scratching his ear in interest! They are both boys; at least we know Bosco is. Didgit, well, we've never been 100% sure, but he is "presumed male." To be honest, this was the first time we've EVER seen him display any sexual behavior! He's a very late bloomer.
If they could be closer friends, I would be so happy for them both. :) I've felt so badly for Bosco ever since he lost his Betty.

Barb, fingers crossed here that they will have a wonderful (even closer) friendship soon and it looks like things are moving in that direction! :clap
p.s. I love a happy ending! ;)

Their relationship sounds very interesting to say the least......It sounds like a good interesting too :)! .....Hopefully this is a sign that everything will turn out just fine. We will be keeping our fingers and wings crossed here too.

Its the dance they do for each other momo basicly it's noise standing tall neck streaching wing flapping dance they do.
Glad to hear they are getting along and if didget is not a hen there is nothing wrong with an alternitive life style:)

Sometimes with foot shuffling, face scratching, and little clickyclickyclicky sounds.
I'm glad to hear that Bosco has found companionship with Didgit. :)

Barb,
How old is Didgit now? They growup too fast. Good to know Bosco has a friend. I never thought Molly would befriend any bird until Piper came along. Now they are best buds  Got pictures?

Sometimes lovie flamenco sounds like there are castenets. :) And the parading really cracks me up. "Look at me! I'm over here!" I think that's probably the goal of real flamenco too.
Nothing new with those two since then, but I noticed Bosco doesn't steer clear of Didgit quite so much. It's been near a year and a half since Betty passed.
I don't exactly remember how old Didgy is. I need to check back posts. He's younger than Sam by about a year.

Hmmmm, I've had Oliver for 5 years and remember reading (holding my breath) the breeding section on the old forum and that, if I remember correctly, was in the late fall or early winter of that year. So, Sam would be getting close to 5 and Didgit must be 3, going on 4.

I got it figured. Sam was hatched in 2004, same year my niece and nephew got married. I remember clearly because I had to leave the reception to feed Sammy back at my parents' house. :D
Didgy was hatched the next year, Much to Gracie's delight (and mine!), she fed that chick. So Sammy is indeed three-plus years old -- still a late bloomer by bird standards.

Wow, has it been that long already? I remember you were so excited that Gracie was feeding her chick. BTW, how is Miss Gracie? and Sam? and Sammie? I guess you get the picture :D

So THAT what Pip is doing! I love that dance! standing all tall and skinny dancing around and he will flap his wings out once or twice and chirp at the same time, like he is saying.....look at me! trying to impress.....this is what he does with Ivy.....he just loves her!
