I brought Ducky and Squeaky to the vet yesterday for a check up. Our avian vet recommends a visit every 6 months. It was just a regular check up with a toenail trim. I wouldn't let him do their beaks with the dremmel. Too scary! The vet said they are both doing well. He was surprised at how well Squeaky was looking. Squeaky is the same weight as last time which is great. I always worry because he has always been a small bird, only 45 g but I am glad he hasn't lost any weight. Ducky also weighed in at 45 g, up 4 g from his last visit 6 months ago. My little boy is growing up!

Just wanted to share that all is well with the boys. Their fidma and fidpa are very happy about this. :)

Christine,
Good deal on the check up! I'm also glad that you did not let anyone use a dremel on their beaks. It's not necessary and not all birds will tolerate it.

Sierra gets his beak trimmed with a dremel every week because of his locked jaw. He tolerates it very well unless he hasn't eaten. Birds can go into shock as a result of beak trimming with a dremel. I've seen it first hand and I was lucky Sierra came out of it as quickly as he did.

christine - that's such good news that the boys are doing so well! maybe ducky's youth is having a positive effect on squeaky. nothing like a young'uns energy to get ya going!!! :)
