Well, the new bird has been here for going on 2 weeks. What will we name him? He is very heavily pied, and Jeff thinks he looks like a tie -dyed shirt. So, some names that have come up:
Jimmy Buffet, which launched:
Margarita
Morgan
Tequila
Rainbow Brite
Randy
Camilla
I am not really liking any of those names. I feel like it is a boy, but wanted a unisex name. I have been calling him Jimmy or "Jiminey"
How terrible he doesn't have a name yet. What do you, think? What does he/she look like?

We can not see the image....it takes us straight to the photobucket main page. Out of all the names I like Tequila the best.

To me he looks like a piece of candy, like a Skittles or a piece of Salt Water Taffy.

oooh! he is pretty!
He makes me think "sun" (bc of my sunnybird) and that makes me think Corona... LOL.. you can tell where my head is...
In hawaii we have finely shaved snow cones that are called "Shave Ice" and that is what your pied looks like to me! LOL

Don't feel bad about not having a name yet.......when I first got my cockatiel Woody, it took us six weeks to find him a name!! I think the longer you take and the more time you put into it, the more fitting the name will be! We named him Woody because he was always pecking at the sides of the cage really fast like a woodpecker.....male cockatiels do this, and although now he does it less, he still does it! Woody, my little woodpecker wanna be!

Oooooooooh, very pretty bird!! Bright!!
One of the first things comes to mind is a rainbow because of the multiple colors... "anuenue" (pronounced ah-nu-eh-nu-eh) is rainbow in Hawaiian. I think that would make a nice name!!
I tend to give my birds Japanese names to keep my heritage going (yeah, within my birds *lol*), but "niji" (rainbow) doesn't sound so hot as a name to me.

He is a pretty birdie. When I saw him I thought of Limey but maybe it is an odd name for a bird!

That is funny... the bf wanted to call him Lemony.
I told him that was part of my screen name on this forum, and couldn't pick that. lol
He also had said Patches, so funny that was mentioned too.
Those are some good suggestions. I am going to call him some of these tomorrow and see if he responds to any.
I have been calling him Jimmy and he seems to respond to that. I say "Jimmy, Come on, step up" in this high voice, and he seems to step up only when I do that. Which is too bad, because there is nothing fun or cute about Jimmy. The boyfriend still wants bird names with last names. ie. Bob "Marley" for Marley, Jimmy Buffet for this bird, and now he wants to change Eddie's name to Eddie Money! lol silly guy
We are working on his tameness. I think he is AT LEAST 6 months old and had not been handled before, so the fact that he will sit on my shoulder, take food from my hand and step up sometimes (when he is on the floor he is easiest, we are working on coming out of his cage) is quite an accomplishment. I have a good feeling. I do not believe that he will ever be the cuddlebug that Eddie is, but that is ok.
