Keiko has a small brass cowbell in his cage and wherever I put it, the perch directly below it is FULL of gack, I moved the bell outside the cage and the base next to it is now gack filled. Does he think this his baby and he needs to feed it??
I have taken it away but he is very noisy now..seems like he is calling for it.
it is brass so you cant see any reflections in it,but somehow he seems to be feeding it?

Its his favorite toy and he is feeding it, they feed things they care for bells, balls, you, lol its how he shows he loves it, males tend to do that more and just be glad he doesnt show his affections to the bell in other ways!

Hi Mydoona. As a word caution, you should remove this bell entirely. Brass, being an alloy of copper and zinc, is toxic to birds...Please read http://www.multiscope.com/hotspot/metals.htm ....Also, replacing the brass bell with a stainless (clacker safe) bell may just prompt a whole new response from Keiko, as lovebirds are so very creative when it comes to transfiguration, he may just find a new bell a worthy opponent of a good beating. Ding ding ding ding!.............ding!..........:)

There are some hilarious threads about the love interests of unpaired male lovies. Some of the females get pretty wild at times also...
Just be glad you don't have one trying to gack in your ear or your mouth!

Been there, done that. Bo regularly (like daily) first tried to feed my mouth, then my ear, then settled for my shoulder. Or knee. Or toe. Never did try to stuff it in my nose, thankfully :omg:
