Im watching my Ex GFs Lovebird and he was so friendly with me, would hop up on my finger, came out for my little cousins and they love him, he was very friendly. Now he is no longer friendly, I put my finger in and he runs to the back of the cage or tries to bite me. Dont know what I did to **** him off.

If anyone can shed some light that would be great, is this normal?

Thanks
Herb

he's probably just being territorial about his cage. Lovebirds are notorious for this--just one of their quirks. if you can get him out of the cage and take him to another room where he can't see it he should be a lot calmer.

You can also try clipping the door up so he can come out on his own and then you can pick him up, but make very sure to watch so he doesn't jump down on the floor.

Maybe it's the difference in location. Are you birdsitting at your house? It could be the new environment that has disturbed him.

I have left the cage open and he dont come out, when he first came here, he would come out all the time, and would jump o n my head or shoulder. I would put my finger in his cage and he would hop right onto my finger... the first night he was here. Now he runs to the back. I dont think its the location, but he doesnt see his owner much, Could that be it? He also fluffs up his feathers. When he does this to her she just reaches in and grabs him and then he is fine. Im going to maybe try bringing him out and see if I can get him friendly again. Any suggestions or info would be awesome. Thank you so much for helping me out.
