"Parrontal" Words of Endearment

Around the world, there are many ways to verbally let a person know you care about them. In some cultures, the parrot is considered a linguistic equivalent of the beloved, as in American English (and probably British English, too) reference to loved ones as "my dear", some places refer to their loved ones as "my parrot":

In Panjabi:
"meraa totaa"

In Gujarati
"maro popat" (usually parents say this to their children)

Globally, parrot owners have certain things that they do with their parrots/say to their parrots that are different. It's always interesting to learn about those differences. One thing all parrot lovers share, however, is their enthusiasm for their feathered kids!

Nice! And wouldn't "popat" be a nice name for a lovie? Kind of a variation on "poppit"--which wouldn't be a bad name, either. Do you know which syllable is accented to say the word properly? Hmmm, why am I thinking about names for new lovies? Do I think that maybe some day I will need to name a new lovie?

I don't know how to say the words properly, but you have taken my thoughts!

My first thought when I read "maro popat" was that when I get my first breeding pair, those would be wonderful names! 'Ro and 'Po!
