This isn't bird related but everyone here has become like a little family so I feel compelled to post!

This may sound lame but my dog went in for surgery this morning, she's getting spayed and getting her teeth cleaned. I waited this long to get her spayed (she just turned 3, I adopted her at 1 year old) because she's only 4 pounds and I worry about her safety with the anesthesia, but she had to get it done for long term health. The vet of course assured me they do this all the time with animals smaller than her (kittens and smaller pups) but I still am allowed to worry about my little girl!!

I am freaking out considerably, and won't hear anything until 3pm...she is my first baby and we love her more than anything so if you would please keep her in your mind today and send good thoughts I would appreciate it!!

I'm sure she'll be fine. My dog weighed just over 3 lbs. when my vet spayed her last year (also cleaned her teeth) and she did fine. My vet reminded me that she has spayed RATS and they are much smaller than my dog! :D I did stay there while they did the surgery so that she could wake up in my arms. They brought her to me, wrapped up in a warm blanket, and I held her tight while she came out from under the drugs and that took about an hour.

I'm always a basket case every time I have any animal in my vet's office for surgery of any kind!! Good thoughts coming your way for successful surgery for Maggie!

Hugs to Maggie! I'll be taking Shenzi soon for removal of a very large tumor- so I know what you're going through!
She'll be great- just a little sleepy when she gets home.

Oh, the trials and tribulations of motherhood, be the child haired, feathered, or furred :omg: Of course you're worried. That's what mothers do  My sister has a rescue kitty who is extremely small. She was already spayed when my sis got her. The vet commented at her initial "well kitty" check up, She's so small it's a wonder they could even find her uterus  Anyway, more "protective" thoughts coming to you from our flock :)

I'm probably really cruel in the idea that I loved it when my cats got neutered - they came home all loopy and tired and it let me coddle them! usually they don't want to lay with me, but when they came out of surgery, they were very snuggley! I'm sure your little woofer will be just fine! :)
