You know, ive always "heard" about lovies talking, but i never really believed it. My friend swears she knows one, but i have yet to see it.
Also, i never imagined them imitating noises. I dont know why i didnt, they ARE birds...but i just didnt think of it I guess. Stormy has been imitating my tiels to a science. I keep thinking one of them wandered from the birdroom, only to find its him. Then last week, i heard him making a "clicking" sound that i make with my tongue on the top of my mouth to him! It was so cute! When i play music, i swear hes singing!
Anyone elses lovies talk or imitate sounds?

Roxy will say "Hi bird" and "wanna come out". She talks loudly when she does and it is more in the intonation than pronunciation . Too cute!

Yes!
My sunnybird is the first lovie of mine that's imitated sounds. She's so clever! She makes a "kiss" noise that sounds very close a real kiss, and does this while or just after getting a kiss, and she also says "chirp". It's so funny! It's not a cheep or a peep or any of the cute li'l birdy noises she makes... she says "Chirp!" and then tilts in for a kiss. Her "voice" is high and squeaky, but sooo cute!

The only lovie I had who spoke at all was Loki. It surprised me, because no one had ever said anything about him imitating, and he did it the first time we had training exercises, I said "Step up" and he repeated it back to me clear as day. He said a few other things, too.
While his speech was not as clear and "human sounding" as a Quaker or Grey- its more squeaky and raspy, similar to their chattering noises- it WAS more clear than I thought.
I have also seen some You Tube videos of lovies talking in the same manner. It does happen but I don't think its very common.

It took my lovie about a month to actually make alot of noises after we got him. He mimics somtimes but I dont know if he knows what hes doing or not, since hes not even 4 months old yet. My moms lovebird mimics, shes 2 years old. I really wanna work with nacho to get him to mimic a little better :) I think its cute. and I've seen some talking lovies on youtube that are cute but not many and very simple words.

Gus makes low noises that sound almost like white noise? if that makes any sense. it sounds like a broken tape recorder, although i never know what he's saying. I feel that it's him trying to talk - for the most part he just screams in my ear though! lol

Buddy does budgie noises, peeps like the canary, and says "baby". ( And the canary does Buddy's "come & get me" squawk...in the middle of his song comes a series of "ak ak ak ak". So lovely.)
