My husband and I were just about to leave the house for some grocery shopping about an hour before sundown, when I heard the faint, faint chirps of a lovie somewhere outside.

"Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"The lovebird! Listen!"

*cheep! cheerip!*

So I took my sunnybird out of her cage & we stood by the window in our bedrooom. (I don't trust sunnybird not to take a wild leap away from me). A few encouraging cheeps from me & a whistle from hubby got sunnybird chirping...and an answering call that got closer & closer.

Then, I saw a little green bullet whiz by! A normal green, on the loose!

We moved back to the living room & stood near teh door to our balcony, but there were no more cheeps & sunny refused to chirp anymore.

It's dark now & I'm all sad & worried for the little lost lovie. We still have Maka's old cage out on the balcony, so I put a dish of seed & water inside & tomorrow I'm going to add a perch. Husband thinks I'm being silly, but I'm hoping that maybe tomorrow while we're at work, if sunny has anybirdy come visit her, at least we're being good hosts. I just hope the mynas & sparrows don't steal any.

awww, someone lost their bird. hopefully he'll come to you (wishful thinking). That's how a client of ours got her lovie. It was hanging out w/ the chickadees and bossing them around (of course). she lured it inside her house w/ millet and then shut the door. and now it's hers. :)

I hope you see the little green bird again. It's so sad when they get out! At least the weather is nice (I assume :)) Maybe Sunnybird will entice the stranger back. Let us know!

Actually, I feel bad bc the weather has been so junk lately. It rained pretty hard last night and seems the same tonight.

I saw a lovie figure lurking on the wires across the street about 15min before dark, and brought sunny to the balcony & got her to chirp. We got some answering chirps and then a swoop over. Considering how sunny reacted to sharing space with Hina, I'm hoping her chirps weren't "hey you! stay away! this is my space!"

I'm still leaving seed out, i hope she's eating!

I had that happen twice here with cockatiels. They sit on the telephone wire in my backyard, but never come down :( Lovies come and go here, cant tell if theyre wild or ones on the loose!
