so i painted my apt today. god, i am never painting ever again!!! i think i'll be fine w/ white walls for the rest of my life actually. my place is a huge mess, but oh well.

anyway, i kept the birds in their smaller cages in the car while my bf, gosh, i never say his name on here do I? I kept them in smaller cages while Shay (the bf) and i painted. then he took them home. he just called to say that he thinks they miss me. I asked him why he said that. He said he can just tell. I think I know what he means. There's no way to describe it, but you know how you can tell what your birds are feeling? i'm sure they miss me. i know they're scared and confused as to where they are and why they are there and i'm not.

so he put me on speaker and i called out to them and of course they were looking around, especially joey. pan and evie stayed in their cages and joey was the only one who came out. But boy do I miss them :( I can't wait to see them tomorrow.

p.s. I do have to admit that cleaning around my place w/o them is a lot easier!!!

p.s. 2. it is safe that they come back tomorrow right? i don't know if the paint smell is gonna be gone or not. it's cold here in mn but i'm gonna sleep w/ the window open so the room will air out. it's for the babies sake

I would give it a couple of days or a few and wait until the smell isn't noticeable when you walk in the door from being out.

If it's latex paint it should be fine by tomorrow. Oil base, at least 2 to 3 days. I've painted with latex and not even had to move my birds. Fans and open windows for one day and no problems. Oil based paints are toxic so extra precautions should be taken but if you're doing walls, I doubt you're using oil.

Water based latex paint is not toxic to birds. I've actually done touch up painting while my birds are in the same room! I opened a window, of course, but no one was any worse for it.

nope, i used water based paint. the smell isn't too bad cuz the ceiling fan is on and the windows are wide open. Yeah, I guess Joey was a huge hit at shay's house. He was flying from one person to another, hanging out on their heads or shoulders. and they were loud as heck. yep, those are my birds alright.

Glad to hear that Linda! I was painting (LATEX) in my dining room a few years ago and completely forgot that Oliver was on my shoulder! :omg: He can be so quiet and still that I really didn't know he was with me. And that was for over half and hour!

well, they've been back since 3. it's nice to have them back. they took a nap and even went to bed early. Normally as long as my big lights are on, they are awake and loud, but not tonight. They were all in their huts and quiet even before nine. they were already preparing to knock out. i didn't even have to force joey into his cage. he went in it to hump of course!!! but yeah, i sure did miss them.
