So, I've still been under the weather, but I wanted to see how everyone's doing... and to tell about the developments...

Freyja and Odinn have been maturing... Odinn has been feeding and attempting to mount Freyja, and she wants nothing to do with it. Freyja has been feeding ME, and my thumb. They are so active and silly and fun. They LOVE bathing. They bathe every day. I think I'm going to try out the shower perch with Freyja once we change the cartridge in the shower head (it filters out chlorine/chloramines/heavy metals/minerals). Freyja and Odinn are about to get their big new cage soon. We actually decided against that enormous cage from the family member because we measured and there just is not space for it. Instead we're getting a very large flight cage that's small enough to fit in our bedroom. Chris and his dad are putting up a shelf. We're also building a cool cage-top gym for them. As for their old cage, the one they are using now, it is perfectly adequate in size for two lovies but would be better for a single parrotlet...

Chris and I are getting a Parrotlet when I get back from my trip, and a Quaker later on this summer. We already know and love the breeder we're getting the Quaker from. The parrotlet we are not sure yet. That will complete our flock for the time being. We hope to get some breeding pairs of some of the more unusual types of lovies if the economy improves eventually... and of course, when we have more house we will have our TAG and our Galah 2.

As for the Expo- I have been so sick I haven't gotten anything done. I had planned to just cram and get as much done with my mum and sisters this weekend, but my Mum wasn't 100% honest about having registered for our table- she said it had been taken care of, but it wasn't and now its too late. So, for those of you who are going- I will be there, but not at a table. I'm also going to make a few toys to give to folk on the board who will be there. So, my Mum and sisters and I are going as patrons only.

Freyja and Odinn are coming with me to visit family this weekend. It will be a lot of fun. I have a really awesome backpack/frontpack carrier with a perch inside it. They'll meet Mum's lovies (vet checked, and polyoma & PBFD neg, and they've been around over two months- very healthy) this weekend as well.

So, I hope everyone is well. I probably still won't be on the board too much these next few days as I'm still not feeling well and the computer screen hurts my head... but I miss y'all and my birdies are doing very well!!

Ohhh, I'm so sorry that you have been THAT sick! I don't know how much room I will have on my table, but I'd be willing to let you sell something if we can work out the space somehow......definitely any toys you've made I will have room for anyway, and maybe we'd have room for one of your playgyms......I know you wanted to see how popular they'd be! We have three playgyms and I'm sure we won't have room on the table anywhere for all of them, but we can always work something out and set them on something else behind our table, like bring a small table or chair to put them on. At least you are still going! Being that sick is aweful, I know! I was real sick like that once and ended up going to the emergency room with a 104.3 fever! It was bronchitis and I was so scared of ever getting that sick again, the following year I got a flu shot......had a reaction to it and I won't get it again! A reaction meaning in the first 15 minutes I felt like I was going to pass out.....ears ringing and all! Anyway, I found since that time that taking vitamin C really makes a huge difference! I take it every year starting in december til about march and I was sick twice this winter, but only little bitty colds with runny noses, and winter before that I wasn't sick once! Not even a runny nose! So.....vitamin C! it does make a difference!

Thanks :)

We don't have a whole lot done, so I doubt we'd take up too much space no matter which way you slice it, but you don't have to share your table! I really appreciate the offer. One way or another- I'll bring a few things with me and if you've got space, that's great and if not, don't worry about it. We lovebird board folk will have to figure out a way to find one another at the expo.

I've been in a lupus flare up, and all the swelling has triggered migraines like crazy. I'm somewhat of a health nut, and definitely agree that vitamin C and eating food with a lot of garlic (especially raw garlic) is great for fighting off colds. Despite having a compromised immune system I rarely get colds. Re: flu shots- Are you allergic to eggs? I know that people who are allergic to eggs will have reactions like that. How unfortunate!

I'm sure I will be feeling better soon- and I'm going to the expo come **** or high water.

So sorry you're not feeling well. Sending you wishes for the moment when you start to turn the corner.

My Juanita feeds my thumb too. It must be an instinctive reaction to a chick-like thing. I feel so honored when this happens. After a short interval, I lower my thumb and tell her, "Thank you, Juanita, but baby's full."

Pips Mom-I get a similar reaction, too, to the flu-shot. The world starts to spin and I feel as if I'm going to pass out. I can eat eggs with no problem and when I called the doctor's office and described my reaction, they said my reaction was most unusual and doesn't seem to be related to the shot (! what is it related to, I wondered?!). So, the next year, I had my husband drive me to the doctor's so if my head was lolling around on the headrest after the shot, it wouldn't make a difference. LOL This feeling usually passes in about 20 minutes or so. Glad to know there is a sufferer-in-kind out there. I mean, I'm sorry you suffered, but glad that I was vindicated in my symptoms.

Getting sick with the flu is awful. Take care of yourselves everyone; health is wealth.

Oh my gosh.....that is something huh? that you had the same reaction! With mine they made me stay because it was my first time getting one, and sure enough in about five to ten minutes I started feeling really dizzy and like I wasn't going to be able to stand up much longer! So I went and sat down and it got better.....got back up and wow, ears ringing, I started feeling very warm and dizzy and I know I was very close to passing out! I was picturing myself on the floor! lol In about a half hour it passed and all was well. I was told also that this was not the usual reaction to the shot and said maybe if I hadn't eaten lately that was why.....but when they inject something into you and you start feeling THAT horrible feeling.....the dizziness made me feel like I wanted to puke! I KNOW it was something in the shot....and not me! They asked me if I was afraid of needles!!! HUH??? oh yeah, I had just had my wisdom teeth out a couple of weeks before that and an IV.....so this was nothing! As a young child I hated needles, but quickly got very used to them at age 11 when I became very sick with mono and was hospitalized for two weeks and made into a human pin cushion!
So, yeah that is funny that I found someone else too who has this same reaction, and no I have no allergies to eggs either. It must be something else in that shot that we have this reaction to.....I'll have to look into that further!
Kristi, yeah we'll see how it goes, I'm sure we can figure something out! I have a picture of me and my boyfriend so you know who to look for......
