Eesh! As of late my poor fingers have been the victims of 2 evil little lovies! First off i cant type around them. Lizzy seems to have "claimed" my keyboard and any time im on the computer she runs over and attacks my fingers anytime i so much as "peck" a key.
But even when im lying on the couch, theyll make my way over to my fingers and "pretend" to be nibbling on my ring, then CHOMP. They aim for the tip, fingernails really. I dont want to pull away, so i simply turn my fingers so that the fingernail is out of reach but man these buggars can bite them hard!
Anyone elses lovies out to dissassemble fingernails? :rotfl
Yes.. constantly.. Typing is a NIGHTMARE.. when I am writing essays I always need to do it in a separate room to her because I just can't get anything done.. at all. Nothing.. without losing a limb.
Elmo hates toes and fingers, I assume cause they look alike. She will chase my mums feet!
Elmos favourite spot is to bite where the nail meets the flesh on the side... it's so painful. so ever painful. Ive learnt over time.. the hard way.. how to handle her without losing my fingers.

Well, I guess I am lucky.....Pip doesn't like hands and doesn't get near them, so I never have to worry about this kind of thing.

This is all pretty normal lovie behavior especially with youngin's. Most of the nibbling is age appropriately and something they are likely to grow out of. Just try not to react too much and have fun things to redirect them with when they start nibbling on your hands..........Some lovies never grow out of their keyboard obsession. I think a lot of has to do with the noise and can even resemble the clickety click mating sound:x.

Oh my thats what happens with me too. Honey is really obsessed with key boards!! and when ever i switch on my lap top, she comes flying to me, goes on my hand and then the key board and when i start typing she bites my fingers!! And when ever i try to let her step up on my fingers or hand she refuses and bites harder but i try to be so calm.

I have a couple of theories about what's going on with this behavior. :2cents:
First, the keyboard. It clicks! So do my birds, especially the boys. They want to make the other clicking thing stop, because it might be intruding on their territory (aka, me).
The other theory, the one about fingers in general, is much more speculative. When a bird has been hand fed as a chick, I think it will always look at our fingers as other birds, and the nails are like the beaks. (Sam is always trying to feed my fingernails.) It would make sense, because when they were very little, food seemed to come from the ends of my fingers (though really through the syringe).
Theories are like a-holes -- everybody's got one. So take mine with a couple of grains of salt. :)

The mating thing sounds more reasonable. But as for the handfeeding theory that was the case with my Goffins :) Im so glad he grew out of that!
I cant believen im not the only one! Eric was like what is WITH her and attacking your fingers when you type? The wierd thing is Stormy never does it. He just goes after my fingers whenever they happen to be around.

I was on my computer this afternoon (laptop) and Gus was looking at my hands very earnestly and head bobbing A LOT - i thought for sure he was going to fly down and explore but he never did. I thought of your post the entire time! lol

Haha beware! My Lizzy becomes EVIL on my keyboard. And OMG if she happens to get a good hold of my nail, its like she knows when shes got it..and CHOMP. Man can she bite!
Speaking of computers, do you find your fids are amazed at the screen? Elmo will jump on my keyboard and just stare into the monitor. It's so strange.. like a moth to the light.. I shoo her off as soon as I see her there.. but shes just obsessed..

Hehe yes!!! Have you ever moved the mouse pointer around near their faces? ALL my birds go nuts chasing it back and forth across the screen. Its too funny lol
hahaha!! I will have to try the mouse thing!
Cause I have a mac, I have photobooth which I can take photos of myself on the laptop cause it has a camera.. if I put elmo on it.. she tries to eat her own face.. but when she moves towards the screen she disappears.. and gets confused.. HAHA

Guard your keyboards because my Juanita removed the keys, enough of them, that we had to buy another one. Now we cover the keyboard whenever we're not using the computer.
Also, they may like the roller part on the top of the mouse and bite off pieces of it and you'll have to buy another one! :) I guess they like the rubbery texture.
Ever since I heard that they like the clicky sound of the typing because it reminds them of their clicky dance, I give them a smirk whenever they come flying to the den, and strut and claim the keyboard as their property, and bite to reinforce that claim. Juanita says, Everybody else, get off!

My mouse has no more rubber on the rolly part lol. First my Goffins got a hold if it, then the quaker, then the lovies. That poor scroll didnt have a chance lol
HAHAHA.. StormyMom.. it must be bird owners that is keeping the keyboard replacement industry alive!!
Ive found that elmo just likes to fiddle with rubber bands. I try to take them off her. She doesn't break them.. just must like the feel on her tongue.. strange.

Freyja likes to sit on my wrists or hands while I type... never biting. I've never received more than a gentle preen from her. Nor has anyone else in my presence or to the best of my knowledge.
Odinn has begun to nip fingers of late. He stays clear of them, most often, but he will come in for an occasional seemingly random nip about the finger nails. I almost think its an affectionate thing with Chris... they have a strange relationship. Odinn really seems to adore human men. My jaw hit the floor today when I saw my mother's boyfriend holding and touching him. Later, he let me hold and touch him, too... but that's generally a privilege reserved for Chris. The biting is usually reserved for Chris, too, though. Odinn won't even come NEAR me when I'm typing, he hates it.

LOL!! I think we keep more than that alive. If only my remotes and Xbox controllers could speak. The tales they would tell! :rotfl
