For having such little human interaction Oslo is quite the people bird. He doesn't bite, AT ALL. We figured since he is two years old that he would take some work to adapt to people and hands, but he's so good with us. He just lets you scoop him up and hold him, you can pet his back and he just sits there. He's a completely different bird from Gus. I even emailed his previous owner and asked if his behavior was normal because I was so shocked!! Maybe is this because he is older and more calm at 2?

He really is a joy - I hate being at work right now because I just want to hang out with him!! Gus is out and about downstairs in his room, sitting in the window as he always does. My boyfriend is home most of the day today so he is on bird watch, making sure everything runs smoothly!!

I almost have learned to teach Oslo how so step up. I am not afraid of him at all because he hasn't tried to bite me so it's easier for me to just place my hands near him and he just steps on my hand. Sorry if I seem to be bragging this is just going so much better than I thought it would, and its only day 3 today!!

Yes and my new favorite time in the morning is watching them wake up and take baths, Oslo isnt shy about it at all and now Gus just lets me watch him. I love it, I think wet birdies are adorable!!

Isn't it a joy when we get bonuses like this? So glad O doesn't bite. I found the same pleasant surprise with my Petey.

Juanita is a fierce biter so in the beginning I used a towel, the not-bite hold, was fearful, and bought boxes of bandaids whenever I had to handle her with my hands.

I went through the same procedure with Petey, her then-new mate during his quarantine because the vet said he had a bacterial infection and needed to be medicated: used a towel , the no-bite hold, breathing fast because of stress; come to find out, all this was unnecessary because he was mellow. He might try to bolt out of my hands, but he didn't bite, period.

Even now, he'll be medicated for two-months :omg: but Im OK with this because he doesn't bite. (Another different infection caused him to pluck an area on his back/wing bald.) There's a bit of a stress for him because it's hard to catch him, but once I have him in my hands, he's cooperative--he will even willingly open his mouth and take the syringe. :)

Each bird is different, that's what I've found. But most of all, enjoy your companions.
