Reusing toys, perches, etc.

I spoiled Gus and Oslo rotten and because of that I have perches and ropes and toys galore around my house. Eventually I'm going to have another bird and I'd really like to reuse the things I have if I could. My concern is that Gus threw up on more than one perch and if he was sick I don't want to spread something. If I wash it will it be okay??



I am very paranoid of having another bird and having something happen that I could have prevented. I pretty much threw everything out but manzanita perches and my huge rope perches. The rope perches (I have 2) were expensive, can I reuse those if I wash them? Would they hold illness on them? What can I use to clean it??

You can definitely reuse the perches you have left from Gus and Oslo! Wash them in 10% bleach solution and let them air dry in the sun. Bleach kills most nasties so those perches should be safe again.
