Prayers for Won Ton

Well many of the old time members no doubt remember our beloved lovie Won Ton and his beautiful mate Babygirl. Well Won Ton is very ill and it's looking like he will only be with us for a short time longer:very_sad::very_sad:. Won Ton has developed a serious heart problem and has been deteriating pretty rapidly over the last month and a half. He was originally diagnosed with a fungus infection but got no better. Blood and x-rays revealed an enlarged liver and heart but no liver disease. However, the vet put him on liver medication thinking the liver was the main issue, but he has gotten much worse. So last night he went back to the vet who said his heart has gotten much WORSE and that his liver enlargement is due to his increasingly enlarged heart.

Won Ton was put on Lasix and Hawthorne. Whether these meds help is really a crap shoot as there's not much that can be done for lovie heart problems. So some positive thoughts are needed to help Won Ton through this difficult time hoping he will be able to make some improvements, or at the very least have the most comfort he can for his remaining time with us. He is not suffering right now but I spoke with the vet and know the signs I need to watch for to know he is starting to feel discomfort.

THIS IS DEVESTATING:very_sad::very_sad:. Won Ton is the last of our original four lovebirds and is a sweet and beautiful lovie who has a beautiful mate and has raised some beautiful babies. He really is the pilar of our flock and the pain of losing him has already hit us too hard:very_sad:.

There is no way out of this ****, except to go through it, and come out the other side. I'm sorry you're going through it, though. So very sorry.

Thanks for the warm thoughts. Won Ton appreciates them...........He's sleeping a lot these days and is tired of all the attention I have been giving him. He's tame but very independent and will mostly run in his cozy when I bug him too much. He HATES to be medicated and that's been a struggle. He fights and then I have to worry about his heart getting stressed out. So that's no fun. My biggest worry is Won Ton's Babygirl. She's a sweet girl though she doesn't really like other birds or humans. So I worry how she will handle the loss of Won Ton if and when he passes. Hopefully, he can pass at home with his Babygirl near him.
