By now you all know that Bookworm has adopted Zoe. ( I still wanted to call her "my sweet little Zoe", but she is not mine to call her that anymore). I still absolutely love her with all my heart, which is why I had to let her go. I just was not spending the time with her that she deserves. Between two grandbabies, a fulltime job, and a dog...Zoe was not getting time with me and time out of her cage. I honestly thought that this was a right time in my life to bring a bird back into my life, but it just was not, and I feel soooooo bad for not realizing that before I had begun my search for a bird. My grandson lives with me, and even though my son has custody, and lives with me also, I am finding that he is a full time job, and when I do get time to myself, I was not spending very much of that time with Zoe. And I was feeling worse and worse about that.
I also was beginning to feel that it wasn't fair to Zoe to have to live as the only bird...but I knew I couldn't possibly bring home a second bird. i wanted Zoe to have other winged companions around her, and to be in a home where she could be out of her cage more to play, and I felt that Bookworm would be a great mama to her, so I pm'd her.
I never would have placed Zoe through Craigslist. If I hadn't known Bookworm through this wonderful sight, I would never have rehomed her. I wasn't looking to sell Zoe or be paid money for her, I only wanted her to go to a good home, and I know that she is in a wonderful home where she can fly and play and be out of her cage without fear of getting hurt by grandbabies or my shih tzu.
I am greatful for the time I had to spend with Zoe, and I will always love her...but I believe she will be much happier.
Thank you Bookworm for taking my sweet girl into your home and heart!!!!
Cindy

Cindy,
You've made a tough decision, but most importantly, you put little Zoe first. I know that she's going to be spoiled rotten with bookworm, and as StormyMom says, I'm sure you'll get visitation rights! :)

Between the two of you, she's got two wonderful fidmas that put their birds' happiness first. Cindy, I know this isn't a decision you made lightly, and such a gesture shows a great deal of love and selflessness. I'm so glad the two of you fidmas live close enough to each other to have this work out so well.

I think it's so great when when people from here can hook up like this! I know it's sad that you gave Zoe up, but also happy that she's going to the best place you could ever find! and with some cute little feathererd friends! Plus you can visit and hear all about how's she's doing. It was a really loving thing for you to be able to let her go and do what you really thought was best for Zoe. I think everyone here knows how much you love her and that this wasn't easy for you.

I am sorry you had to find Zoe a new home, but sometimes life dictates these things. It's obvious you gave this a lot of thought, which was focused on Zoe's happiness. It's really great you were able to find a respected member of the board to place Zoe, which is not always possible.

Although re-homing Zoe was not something you wanted to do, you put her first and really thought through if she would be happier in a different situation. Bookworm loves her birds like children - I really dont think you could have chosen a better home for Zoe. Plus, you can visit whenever you want - & thats gotta be nice!!! Find solace that you made the right decision & you KNOW your Zoe will be so well taken care of, spoiled even!! I know it was hard, but you did the right thing ((hugs))

My thoughts exactly!

Cindy, I know that you didn't come to this decision easily. I'm glad that you were able to find a loving home for Zoe with bookworm :)

Thank you so much Bookworm...It helps to know that I didn't have to say goodbye last night and not ever see Zoe again. I miss her so much, but I know in my heart I did what was best for that precious little girl!! And I know you will give her a loving home where she can be out to play and get lots of scritches!! She loves her scritches!!!

Thank you all so much for your support and understanding. Yes...it was a tough decision, made easier because of our sweet Bookworm. And you are all so very right... I could not have chosen a better home for her...I am so lucky that I got to know Bookworm through this forum because of our love for birds. I absolutely would not have rehomed Zoe if not for being able to let her go to someone who loves her fids like Bookworm does!!

Ditto! When it's in the very best interest of the bird, I'm always for it! If Oliver's former owner hadn't wanted a better life for him, I never would have been lucky enough to have him in my life.

So glad that things worked out well for all of you and especially little Zoe! :)
