I don't know how he managed to do it, but Sierra got out of his cage about 30 minutes ago. I was in the kitchen making cornbread for later today when I heard a "thud" on the floor. Glanced around and saw the cat in doorway, sitting there just staring in the direction of Sierra and Red's cage. Looked at Sierra's cage and only Red was there. All doors were in closed position. Then I looked down and saw green tailfeathers under the cage stand! :omg:

My thoughts are that Sierra likes one of the hens in the cage above his and that's where he was headed. Since he can't use his beak to climb, he tried a short flight but didn't make it.

Needless to say, all doors on that cage now have clips on them! The cat will not normally bother the birds but it's not a chance I want to take! When I'm not here, everyone is secure in their cages and the cat has no access.

Yikes! Sounds like you have a little Houdini on your hands!

For not having use of his beak, he sure is one real determined fellow. You know Linda, are you positive he hadn't somehow worked that stubborn little beak of his?........

My King parrot once pushed the fly screen off his window in his room and went for a walk I found him on the front lawn about an hour later! Funny how quick they can learn to get out of somewhere when there is motivation! All these people who think it is cute to watch their Birds open cage door I will never teach my birds that.

Glad it all worked out and no one got hurt.

How mysterious!

You breed Houdinis, Linda!

Freyja and Odinn can remove the SS locking pear clips I use to lock their cages now... but I do not think they could do it without the use of their beaks.

The cat knows that anything with feathers is off limits, however, she's still a cat and cats are predators. Had Sierra been a lizard or a mouse, it would have been all over.

Like you, AV, the minute one of my birds figures out how to open any door to the cage, all doors become clipped. While I think it's comical, I put a quick end to what could be a danger to their safety.

HAHA definitely sounds like a little escape artist - good thing you put those clips on
