Hi, I found out that this summer the city will be re-sealing/paving our street. Are the fumes from this potentially harmful to the fids? I would appreciate your input here!

Thanks,
Barb :)

I think they probably can be! How close are you to the road? Geez, our house is very close to the road.....it's the one thing we've always hated about this house.....if everything else weren't so good about it, then we'd probably move! Our street has some potholes too.....I hope they don't plan on doing our street.....I'd be worried with how close we are, but then I think I'd probably just move the birds all to the spare bedroom in the back of the house and keep all front and side windows closed.

Hi, we're back a bit from the road in the front and the back. The problem is they'll be doing it all over the neighborhood... :( Should I just keep the windows/doors closed that day and see how it is the next day?

I would definitely keep the windows and doors closed as much as possible, quite apart from the birds, I wouldn't want to have to smell that stuff all day in my house anyway.

I can only tell that our next door neighbors were sealing the blacktop on their driveway and it stunk horribly.
I could not even open the windows for a few days, it was that bad.

yea re-paving STINKS and especially if its hot outside the fumes definitely aren't healthy for your lungs. I would do what you could to keep the house sealed up not only for your birds & pets but for you too!!
