Kath hasn't been on here in a while, so here's a couple shots. She seems to be pretty much done with her molt, there's just a few flights coming in now and then.

Pic -Sitting very nicely (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/dieflying/SDC10442.jpg)

Pic - Nice brow shot (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/dieflying/SDC10462.jpg)

Pic -Trying to peer into the camera (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/dieflying/SDC10463.jpg)

Pic - Okay, there's definitely someone in there. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/dieflying/SDC10467.jpg) Give me that!

Our camera makes a "beep beep" noise in a high pitched tone, so it's hard to get her to sit still for pictures, since she thinks the camera is a friend and has to be chased.

I've been working with her on a few simple commands, to help give her something to focus on and hopefully create a better bond. She seems to be doing well with that. I also took away all of her shredding stuff because she was getting a little territorial. I don't need a bite every time I reach for the newspaper or a bill!

Here's the "ashamed" part - my husband and I started a new raw food diet for a few weeks and she's been joining us for pretty much every meal - all good stuff, I promise. Broccoli, carrots, some lettuce (mostly she just likes to shred it) a bit of overcooked egg, some peas and corn.

The part I'm worried about is because she's been eating with us so much, I've somewhat neglected her food cup. *hangs head* she hasn't had her seed changed more than every other day (I don't know that she's really emptying it all that fast, though), and I worry that she's not going to get enough nutrition this way . . . any thoughts? Shall I make more of an effort to put fresh seed in her cup?

Depending on how much food is left in my lovies cup i change it every other day or every third day but i get rid of the husks on the second day if it lasts a third.
Then i dump it in the "trough bowl" a bowl i let them forage in (every 3 days trough gets emptied.) The trough gets emptied and half goes to sprouting the other half to wild birds.
But that my routine.

Nothing to be ashamed of at all!! Birds are social eaters and it sounds like she's getting a lot of good food when she shares meals with you. The fresh food is actually healthier for her and she doesn't look undernourished to me! :lol

My parrots don't always empty their food dishes (they are busy mooching food from other sources) so I just add their favorite nuts to whatever is in the dish and don't do anything else if it doesn't look like the dish is close to empty.

I will add some of their favorites every day, but only dump and refill every other- my birds get a lot of fresh foods, mostly raw fresh foods too. Nothing to be ashamed of! She's so beautiful!

lovie shots! so cute & curious! sunny does the same thing! she loves to chew the strap, so it's hard to get a good shot of her sometimes.

whew! i was worried she was being neglected on the seed front, but she seemed to like the fresh stuff better anyway. tonight she went to town on the corn and even dragged a whole broccoli floret off my plate. hey! that's mine!

when i first got her i was a little disappointed because i had my heart set on a blue birdy, but her yellow has really grown on me! i call her cantaloupe head.

Is Kath a show bird? Seriously, I've gradually become conscious of the confirmation of a show bird, and your Kath seems to fit fairly closely to the description of a show bird: straight line of the back, round and well-balanced head, eyes centered, etc. Of course, your pictures are somewhat limited and I'm hardly a qualified "judge" LOL, but she impressed me.

My two are definitely run-of-the-mill because they don't have a straight line of the back, and their heads aren't quite round but I still love them, in spite of their faults.

Still, I'm definitely more curious about high-class lovies. Actually, I didn't know they existed until a few days ago when there was mention of them in a thread.

hmm, i don't know about show quality! she's definitely a lovely little lovie but i don't know much about show birds. it'd be interesting to look into! and i'm also not totally sure on her flights touching or not. . . i was going to let her keep them over this last molt, but she started giving me a lot of 'tude, so i clipped them back down :)

Well, the flight feathers in both Petey and Juanita cross at the rump. I guess that seals it--they're mutts! :)

Kath is very pretty--and friendly looking with those wide, trusting eyes. :)

Your bird is looking beautiful!! I wouldnt worry about the seed - I try to get Oliver to eat as much fresh foods as possible and wish he would eat LESS seed, but he seems to enjoy seed over anything else.
