I might as well herald my arrival with a benign question--

A lot of the time while playing with Indra, I notice her shaking. At first I thought she was cold, and would be very careful to have a heater on for a few minutes before bringing her into a room, and to always keep a towel on her cage. However, there's no feather-poufing, so I don't think it's that. She was sick recently but all of her breathing problems are gone, and we caught it and had her on antibiotics so fast that there was no deterioration of her health at all.

Her appetite is healthy and ferocious, activity and affection are top-notch, weight is constant and everything else checks out--but I still notice her trembling. It sometimes stops for a few moments, but when we're playing or cuddling I almost always feel her wings vibrating lightly.

Judging by her lack of sick behaviour, I'm not particularly worried, just curious. Has anyone else had this happen before? Any clue on what it could be? --Judo

Lovebirds will vibrate when they are happy so this is positive behavior! :) Indra likes interacting with you and this is how she shows it.

Well, that's a generally awesome answer! Thanks, Linda.

My two vibrate when I come in from work everyday! I love it! But I did think it was because they were scared before I read up on it :)

That's positively adorable. I know I tried to look it up before, but the search yielded no results and I was busy at the time, so I didn't peruse it any further. I'm rather cheered to know it's a good thing. After running through the possibility of cold, nerves, and God knows what else, this is a much more pleasing explanation.

Ditto does that all the time. He purrs like a kitten when he naps in my hand.

Jack does this and it's so sweet.

I especially love it when she clicky vibrates. It's the cutest. That is, if I can keep her from trying to get busy with my hand. lol

Green cheeked conures vibrate, too. I first read a thread about vibrating birds last September, right about the time I got Gussie. The timing was perfect or I may have missed a special moment. Gussie came to me already talking. The first night she was home she was snuggled up against my cheek, on my shoulder, getting sleepy & I was talking softly to her. And everytime I said one of her words (pretty bird or baby) she VIBRATED! I'm sure I'd have missed the vibration if I hadn't read that thread. I knew from day one, Gussie & I speak the same language.

Kokoro and Benny vibrate, too.

Though I have had birds vibrate out of fear as well.

i'm pretty sure my bird vibrates out of fear as she shows no other signs of happiness when she does it. most of the time she does it when sje's waddling away from me trying to catch her for bed/cage time. unless it's her way of giggling as she's being naughty and avoiding me...
