Hello everyone! Junior has been behaving since the last incident where he almost took a chunk out of my neck. That little vampire bird! I take him out of his cage and give him treats while he is out. That seems to keep him occupied more. I don't let him sit on my shoulder and It's much easier to catch him now since he doesn't fly around the room like crazy anymore. I haven't gotten his wings clipped yet but I hopefully will on tuesday since that is when the person is available to clip them. I put my hand in his cage and he sits on it and let's me scratch his head. I'm glad to see his behavior improve and I'm excited to see how he reacts to the little bird when I get it. Just thought I would keep everyone updated...hopefully his behavior stays this way! :)

Good, that's excellent news! Maybe he was just going through a hormonal spell and it passed.

I hope so! He's being very sweet now. But, when he tries to bite..I return him to his cage and leave the room. I think he is learning from this because each time I take him out, he becomes better. He doesn't want to be in his cage..he wants to fly around so this is a good lesson for him.

Thats great! ......... Maybe along with some added hormones, junior has yet to associate your body (hands..face..etc) as a whole. ... I would certainly give that bitey boy a good round of praise/applause for anything he does besides BITE.......:omg:........:)

See, I knew it couldn't stay that bad for good or for any long length of time. Another thing too.....everything about Juniors behavior is screaming......GIRL! You have to remember with Junior that he/she can't always control hormonal behavior and this is just something they need to survive in the wild. It's also probably not going to make much of a difference if you return him to the cage.....hormonal behavior is hormonal behavior....inside or outside of the cage, but I guess if you think it helps, it doesn't hurt anything to try. It's good to hear Junior is behaving better already! and giving your fingers some time to heal!

Great news! Lovebirds sometimes tend to go through behavioral changes throughout their early few months/years. I knew you two would work it out = )
