Banana and Plum are eating on their own and drinking water and even taking baths! LOL But with Lemon things are moving a little slower. I'm still feeding her twice a day because i noticed that she isnt eating as much as she should and got REALLY skinny and lost ALOT of weight. So i'm still giving her the formula that she is eating by herself out of a bowl but i feel better knowing that she is eating till she is FULL. I'm just worried that if i stop feeding her the formula she wont make it!

You need to monitor Lemon's weight at least once/day, at the same time of day, to ensure she's getting enough to eat. Losing too much is not good and you need to make sure that she's putting it back on. Totally, a baby lovebird should not drop anymore than 15% of it's body weight during the weaning process.

Your birds are all so cute! Thanks for posting the updated pictures of them. :)

Caution: Were you aware that people have had problems with Kaytee Exact handfeeding formula? I hope Lemon is eating enough other foods now so that this is not a serious issue at this point.

If you check the threads for Linda's "failure to thrive" baby you will find more information on this.

It is probably not a good idea to switch formulas at this point with Lemon and she will most likely be eating entirely on her own very soon, but for future clutches you may want to switch to Zupreem Embrace or another recommended handfeeding formula.

Other people have also had problems with Kaytee... :(

I was waiting for someone to mention this LOL Im not using exact anymore but i still use the container. I'm using Zupreem Embrace. I dont like the bag that it comes in so when i first made the switch months ago i washed it out and started putting the Zupreem in there cause i think that it will keep it fresher longer! Just a pet peeve i have LOL But thanks for you concern on that one!!!

Also Lemon is eating ALL on her own! All i have to do is mix up the formula and put her over to the dish and she eats till shes had enough! Im going to post a pic of her eating cause its the cutest thing. Even Banana and Plum fly to her to "help" her eat LOL

Lemon looks so sweet and it's good news that she's a good eater, along with your other two babies.

I love it when my two eat; I get hung up on animals getting enough to eat. I feed my two all day, slipping them a bit of a walnut, or peas in a pod, or fresh kale leaves, sips of rice milk--no wonder I feel tired at the end of the day! But when we sit down to our dinner, they chow down their food without my assistance. They know the routine so we all eat together, but not at the same table. They have their own table, actually the coffee table.

They have those cute baby black beaks, except for Lemon. Aww.
