So all the lovebirds and pohaku land on my head (the usual) and precede to all lick my head with thier little tongues like a human salt lick then quickly fly away to play....Hard to describe the feeling of 5 little tongues all licking around your face....but now i feel dirty like i need a shower lol Talk about used and abused lol

I've never heard of this behaviour!

You must taste good to them.

I know cockatiels do this kind of thing.....they will kind of nibble at you as a way of getting to know you I think. My parent's cockatiel used to do this. Lovebirds though? I don't know....Pip will preen my hair....more like rip it out of my head!

Bo, my first lovie, licked my entire face every time I ended a session on the tread mill. I figured that I was, indeed, his "human salt lick"

Dao, my macaw, has done this on occasion. Not so pleasant when he does it just after he's eaten a hot dried pepper and I didn't realize it at the time......... :omg: Trust me. Don't apply water to try to alleviate the burning sensation!! :omg: :omg: :omg:

And don't even think about letting a lovie stick his beak in your nose after he's been eating fresh jalapeno's. :omg::omg::omg::omg::omg:

Of course some little yellow fluffball seemed to find it funny.

Hahaha!

Rob commutes by bike to and from work and whenever he got home (sweaty), Kiwi would fly over to him and lick his sweat. It was hilarious!

LOL, I never thought of it as licking- more like nibbling. Birdy tongues aren't real wet- t so I don't think there's much of a problem that their licking will leave you all slobbery like a dog's licking you might.

Or cockatiel, Coconut will groom us if we let him. He'll do a hair or two at a time just as though they were feathers. My daughter says he feels sorry for us because we only have feathers on top of our heads!
