I always browse through the adds for pets on craigslist and I came across this one.....

This person is just going to hand over this bird to anyone who has a cage and can transport him. If you have a cage, he's yours it says.....there are people out there who would take him and sell him to make a buck. It makes me sad for this bird that this person doesn't seem at all concerned about where he'll end up. I tried emailing this person, but can only hope that they will listen to my suggestions on how to be careful so he'll end up in a good home. :(

it says the bird found a home. i sure hope s/he found its' forever home. i don't get it either. i would worry about where my babies are going and who they are going to.

Witholding the cage suggests this person may be shopping for the perfect bird. ...... Hopefully i'm wrong, and he just gave up parrot ownership altogether.

I hope the guy feels like crap and realize what a mistake he made every time he takes a picture but the way alot of people are it probably won't bother him one bit.

People think of their "beloved friends" or so claimed, as objects to make money. They could care less where the pet goes if the price is right.

This is a common thing in hawaii, anyway. I see so many puppies being rehomed for $1,000 I'm not shocked anymore.

bump this up! here is a useful post that can help clear up the real intentions of most of the people "sellin- um er rehoming" their pets on craigslist.

"Interpretation of CL ads:

I just want to help those new to CL understand some of the following ads. They can get confusing.

Puppys=puppies.

Applys=applies.

Purebreed=purebred.

Purebread=Also purebred.

Terrior=Terrier

Shephard=Shepherd

Healer=Heeler

For sell=For sale

Chi-ter, Cocka-poo, Chi-poo Silky-pug, or any variation of a recognized breed=Overpriced designer breed (aka Mutt or Poi dog. You can find these at the pounds for $70 or so.)

Insure=Ensure (usually used when asking for a lot of money as they want you to believe that the more money asked for, the better they expect the home to be, as if they really care for the well being of the animal they are selling.)

Getting rid of=I can’t even pretend to care.

Please email and tell me why I’m being flagged=I didn’t read CL rules.

Kitten/cat wanted=I'm too lazy to use the search feature on CL and see the hundreds of kittens and cats listed... daily.

Call for rehome fee=I’m selling.

Serious inquiries only=I’m selling for a lot.

Please email or call for details= I can’t post details on CL because I’ll be flagged.

Small fee of (insert triple digit here)=I know he is not neutered, not trained, and comes with nothing but I’m still hoping to make a quick buck off him.

Rehoming 6wk old puppy=I'm not 'rehoming', since they have never had a home, I am selling puppies and I do not care that they should not be taken away from their mother until 8 weeks of age.

I’m not a breeder=I’m a dummy who doesn’t handle responsibility well.

I just had a baby= I’m a dummy who doesn’t handle responsibility well, I’m incapable of multi-tasking, and I lack forethought.

Moving and can’t take with=I’m a dummy and I either failed to or didn’t care to see if my new place accepted pets.

Looking for a playmate for my unspayed/unneutered (insert breed here)=Looking to breed and add more dogs to the already overpopulated island…because I’m a dummy and want to make money off my companion… no I don’t know crap about breed standard… if I did I sure wouldn’t be looking for a dog on CL.

Wanted: Blue XXX= I’m asking for skin problems and I just don’t know it because I didn’t research what happens when you breed animals for color.

Wanted: Puppy for Christmas=I want it now and will be selling it on CL next year when the responsibility has become too much or the new has worn off.

LOOKING TO REHOME MY BLAH BLAH BLAH=I’m too stupid to actually use proper capitalization or I didn’t notice that caps lock was on.

If I don’t find a home for XXX he’ll go to the pound=Hoping to appeal to your sensitive side. I’ll never really give up a dog to the pound when I think I can get money for it. Especially when you can get it from the pound up to date on shots, spayed or neutered, and microchipped all for about $70... which is much less than I am asking.

Please don’t flag=I’m breaking CL rules and I know it.
