I was just wondering how you warm weather natives are doing with the freakish cold streak you've been having.I hope everybirdy has been doing ok,last I checked it was colder in Florida then Juneau, Alaska :omg: and I feel so bad for all the critters there who aren't used to this weather.

This person here in FL will be glad when the cold air stops coming here from the North!!!!! One thing you can trust. Nothing that lives with me is cold. Most aren't even cool.... (I'm really dreading my next electric bill! :omg:) I've been leaving dim lights on so if anyone needs to eat, they can do it. Other than that, everything's going well here. After tonight, it's supposed to warm back up and I can't say I will be upset when that happens. I don't miss NJ-like weather!

Sunny San Diego at about 72 (except on the mountains) is slightly above normal. My two lovies have enjoyed sunbaths for the past few weeks.

In the afternoon, I open the sliding doors to the patio wide, and wheel their cage into the sunlight and let them get those vitamin rays! The cage is still in the living room, not outside. They bask, preen, nap, squabble and relax for about an hour or two.

I've got a cold (plain vanilla, I hope) so I'm under the weather. Ugh! I'm a seething mass of virus, spraying them out with every sneeze. Too much information?

Awww, I hope you feel better soon! I just got over a cold myself, but mine was not a bad one, just the runny nose thing! It's pretty darn cold here, I'm willing to bet that there aint no way florida is colder than here! I think it's like ten degrees out right now! but the good news.....it's supposed to warm up in a couple of days above freezing! that will feel like summer to us!!! :omg: At least on sunny days the sun shines right into the bird room and warms it up nice, even on colder days. Today was not sunny though! Hey at least there's not any big snow storms on the horizon!

LOL i think I jinxed myself, the other day it was 40 out which is insanely warm for January in SE Alaska and I was bragging about how we were having this heat wave and people from Florida would have to come up here for spring break....woke up the next day to over a foot and a half of snow hehe.

:grouphug: The fids and I are hoping you feel better soon Fuzzy!

I suppose the good thing about living in New England is that we're used to any weather that's thrown at us. Nothing surprises us. I love all sorts of weather, especially cold and dry- but this past few weeks I've had a fever and feel cold from the inside out and I can't stand it. Its 18F here right now and it feels warm in comparison to some of the chilly days we've had.

It's finally starting to warm up here in FL - I heard that Tampa actually had SNOW flurries on Sunday! I feel bad for all of the snowbirds, and the swim team that came down here to practice in outdoor pools. We're acclimated to the heat, and it when gets below 60 we break out the heavy coats and long underwear. The house hasn't been cold (I'm sure my FPL bill next month will be awful). Cipher is a strictly indoor birdie, but he's been riding around tucked into my shirt to stay toasty.

I'm in southeast, and southwest FL- depending on times, and it got pretty darn cold even for this western PA transplant. We've kept the houses at approx 70 degrees and our birds are inside critters. I kept feeling their feet to see if they were cold, but never found they were, so i guess they were warm enough. Coconut, our tiel, won't snuggle much- except with my hubby, but Sweetpea, our lovie, spent a fair amount of time snuggled inside a shirt or in a hand. Mary

I live in chilly MN, so my fids don't get to sunbathe that often. It's been especially warm here lately (a whopping 32!) but that is wayyyy too cold for those feathery buns. They love sitting on the deck during the summer though. Akira just closes her eyes and soaks up the rays...then they get spritzed with water every once in a while, cause, well, it gets up to 90 here sometimes.
