I got 2 lovebirds yesterday, no matter what they seem to be no more than 4" from each other, even before we purchased them. They appear to rub up on each other, and groom each other, eat same thing at the same time, etc.
The question is, Are they in a relationship, like male and female type relationship? Or did they maybe come from the same parents, and raised together?

it sounds like they may be bonded.

Lovebirds are very social birds and what you are seeing is very common if they like each other. The behavior doesn't necessarily indicate male/female. I've seen male/male, as well as female/female, companions.

it means they're bonded - They like each other - Consider your self lucky :D I have 8 lovebirds and i can only Wish they'd ALL do that instead of being paired off and not getting along with the other ones at all there are times that my pairs don't even get along with each other
but as stated it does not mean they're male/female
It's nothing in my house (no matter what species you walk in on) to see 2 males mating, 2 females mating, a female mating a male - they really don't care around here LOL

Hello, on another note you may need to determine if they are from the same parents. This is important to know if eggs come along. Have a nice day.
