Angie,
I own a McCullough MC1275 and I love it! No non-stick involved. The McCullough has a lot more uses than just cleaning cages! It's the best of the lower priced brands that's available. Comes with a lot of attachments for various types of cleaning. The only thing I don't use it for is my laminate floors. I'm afaid of long term damage from the steam.

I have a Shark handheld that is purple, but I think the one you have a link to is a newer and niftier model! I love mine - it steams all kinds of nastiness off of surfaces. I use it for the bird cage, toys, the basket of my coffee maker, greasy oven messes, shower door tracks, those little bolt covers on the back of the toilet seat - all kinds of places! It also works well as an instant spider-cooker, for the ones that you simply can't reach with a magazine (I'm really short!).

I can relate to that! Spiders don't do too well against steam. I'm not quite 5' tall so the long wand on mine works great, unless said spider is near the top of my 12' ceiling in the living room........... :omg:

In looking at the McCulloch, there is a smaller, handheld model, 1226, that states its for autos, would that work for cages as well?

Linda - if you get some coconut oil and lightly spray it in the corners of high ceilings, spiders won't build a web. It repels them naturally (and smells great!).

If you get this steam cleaner, I can almost guarantee that you will use it for cleaning EVERYTHING and carrying it around to move it will get old very quickly! Wheels are wonderful...... The bigger one comes with attachments for autos.

I have two steam cleaners that are both Sharks. The one I got initially is similar to the first link you posted. Then I got the bigger one that is very similar to the Mccullough. I like it way better because it doesn't run out of steam so quickly and it has wheels and a longer hose. The bigger one had lots more attachments too.
We use it for a lot of the things Birkah mentioned as well as for cleaning grout on our tile floors. It also works great for clearning the barbeque.
I bought it initially for cleaning the bird cages but found lots of other uses after I had it.
I tried using it inside but decided it was way too messy with the overspray and splatters on the floors so I would use it outside on the deck.
Now we have a pressure washer so Dave cleans the bird cages for me outside while I take everything apart, dry them off, and put everything back together again--perches, swings, toys, cuttlebone, feeders, etc.
The steam cleaner was nice, but it's way easier now having someone else do the cage cleaning part! :) And, working together on it makes it go way faster too, but it still takes us a couple hours to do all the cages.
I would probably still like the steam cleaner if I only had one bird cage to clean.

My pressure washer is a Karcher but I've not seen the name on any steam cleaners.
