Wasn't sure where to post this, but prayers going out to them and also to all the areas under Tsunami watch/advisory... which includes Hawaii.
My home is supposedly outside the evacuation area, but I am still nervous. I've been trying to think of what to do just in case.... and whether to try to take sunny's big cage (in the back of DH's truck) and bring her along in her travel cage.... or just bring her travel cage.. if it turns out we need to evacuate.

Depending on how much room is available at evacuation points could cause some problems, especially with pets and a large cage. Are there any evacuation plans already in place for your specific area? ... If so, do you know whether or not they include provisions for pets? (most don't).... Any relatives or friends outside evacuation who might assist in providing your family temporary shelter?.....You may want to brief our "Emergency readiness" forum just to brush up a bit. ...Hopefully you can all stay put!!!
Those already affected certainly have my prayers!

I face a similar dilemma during hurricanes when they threaten FL. I'm not in an evacuation zone but my decision comes down to take all my birds or all of us stay here should the threat be great enough. My plan is to take exactly what I would need and worry about replacing what I would leave behind. I would probably take Sunny and travel cage. Make sure you take extra food, as that could become a major concern, depending on what kind of damage were to occur as the result of a tsunami.
My thoughts and prayers are with all who are in the threatened area.
