I'm putting this here as I think it fall under behavior. Mods can move it if necessary. Lovie Cabo is nearing 8 months old and....SAID HIS FIRST REAL WORDS TODAY!!! Everyone knows that Skye, our conure is a prolific little chatter box and she and Cabo are quite good buddies. He has learned a good bit from watching her do certain things.
I try to get Skye to talk rather than squawk and if she is being incoherent or making her "bagock" sound I tell her, "that's chicken talk. I don't understand chicken talk". At least once a day (even though they love one another) Skye gets irritated with how hyper Cabo is and shoos him away. He will get angry and puff up and just chirp and fuss and cheap and really tell her off! If he spoke as well as she does I am sure most of it would have to be bleeped out! This happened this evening, and he went on his little puffed up rant, just pacing back and forth, and she squawked at him, he stopped, looked at her, took a deep breath and YELLED as best a little graveled voiced lovie can yell..."CHICKEN TALK!"
My son was in the room, and was just like, oh no he did not. I spit sweet tea all over my laptop (cuz I needed more keys to stick on it), and still haven't stopped laughing. Hopefully he will continue to repeat phrases.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

omg!! I LOVE IT!!! i hope he continues to repeat this phrase so you can get it on video for us! I'm so jealous of other folks' talking lovies as Sunny is the first lovie i've had that says a coherent word, but of all the things she picked to repeat... "Chirp!" Yes, our lovie says, "chirp". (sigh) hahahah!
omg that is hilarious!!!
None of my lovies talk sigh.. but my cockatiel boy Spike told me he loved me for the first time yesterday :D
That is too funny! I love it!

LOVE IT!! That is absolutely hilarious!! I about spit coffee on my screens!! :rotfl
Cipher talks a bit, so we have to watch what we say around him. I don't swear in English, but I will swear in various sci-fi languages. So now, Cipher has learned to swear in Klingon

When I see the word laugh in a title, I usually keep the coffe cup away from my mouth and I make sure I don't have food in my mouth before starting to read. It saved my keyboard and monitor a few times

Ditto here! :lol
All too many times, birds chime in with exactly the right words and it never ceases to amaze me! They know what to say and when....... My Greys are known for this and they have me laughing all the time! Harley's favorite is "Uh huh!" and it's always timed with perfection!

That's so cute!!
Koko's more recent one, thought its a bit old-hat for him, he's started using it all the time recently is "Prove it", I tell him something and he says "Prove it", somehow, the use is always appropriate.
That and he loves the parrotlets. He and Benny speak English to each other a lot, and Koko gets really annoyed when Benny speaks parrotlet. When Benny gets loud, Kokoro will start yelling, "Quit it, Benny Bird, QUIT IT! QUIT! QUIT IT! Benny Bird!"
I said "Koko, you DO realize you're being twice as loud as Benny Bird, right?"
He says "No!"
I said, "But you are!"
"prove it!"
"When you're yelling at him to quit it I can't even hear him anymore."
"Mama, You're SUCH a *itch!"
Now that one he caught onto from my banter with Chris and there's no denying it. He loves the SUCH. "I'm SUCH a good boy"
Gotta love these clever birds! Isn't it great how they play off one another? Chicken talk! Chris says Koko sounds like a crow. I do the same with Koko. "Use your words, I don't understand yellin'!"

I've been away a while again....sister-in-law is still not doing well. Glad to see this gave everyone a smile. Cabo HAS NOT spoken another phrase or word since he eeked out the one phrase but Skye continues to astound me. She was squawking her rear end off when I got home and I squawked back at her which got the response "why are you screaming?!" LOL!!!!:rotfl:rofl: She continued her squawking so I asked "why are you screaming?!" This netted me the response..."because I can!" A delightful little come back that my son taught her in my absence........it does not do to leave that boy alone with my birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Haha it´s so fun to hear what the birds pick up from what you say at home. I got a good laugh from reading what all the lovebirds here on the community say :D
My two lovebirds have learned to say "Hello" and my male bird Sluggo has learned to whisper or in his case he sqweek very quiet. I just ask him "Can you whisper" and obviusly he can :D
For the moment I´m training them to kiss eachother on command and we are making big progress. I tell you it´s very usefull when they don´t get along. I just say "can you kiss?" and make a kissing sound and they kiss and become friends again :)
