We are really enjoying Scooter, the new addition to our flock who arrived here in Washington all the way from Linda's flock in Florida.

We picked the name Scooter because he would hunch down and sort of scoot-waddle along. For a little bit I even worried that there might be something wrong with his little leggs.

Then we noticed that his feathers were always fluffed up and it dawned on us that he was cold in our house. We put in a heated perch and he loved it. The change in temp from 80° to 70° took him a few weeks to adjust to.

Now that he's been here for a while he's completely lost his little scoot-waddle. I think he was hunching down to keep his feet warm with his feathers!

So, Scooter has lost his scoot! :)

Glad that Scooter has acclimated to the temperature difference! It's amazing what several degrees can make in how birds carry themselves. :) 80F is comfortable for me year round. I spend a bit more in the winter, but I save when the weather here gets warmer! All in all, it evens itself out.
