Well I have been patiently training my lovebird Tuki, so far everything has been had feeding some millet and some nutriberries, well last night we had another break through, Tuki stepped up onto my shoulder and stayed there for around 20 mins. The only thing and first thing Tuki did was to start to nibble and bite around my ear, It didnt break skin, but it stings a little, he also found a sore on the back of my neck and started to bite it constantly as well. so i did what everyone has told me to do, that is to shake a little when he bits. I dunno what they mean, or some people say he was cleaning me, or hungry. any suggestions? or is it just normal for the first true shoulder contact?

nibbleing is normal they preen you lick salt off you and try to make sure every sore, mole or freckle is where and how it should be, remember birds dont have hands so they test everything with thier beak and tongue :)

Ahhh....The ole ear nibbling neck pecking routine eh?.........Any beak grinding or whispering in your ears yet?..... Although a big favorite among lovebirds (and some owners ) ear nibbles can tend to get a little rough every now and then. .. Couple things that might help, is to either give a low key "no no" and gentle nudge, or what some other touretts syndrome sufferers might refer to as a mild "earthquake". ... Hopefully, sooner more than later, your soon to be habitual ear nibbler will eventually learn exactly how much pressure to apply to your ears, and/or any other inviting appendages. ..... Very gooood lovebird!.......:)
