Hey everyone!
I bought a pair of peach-faced lovebirds last weekend and I already have one black-faced male whose partner died not too long ago. I bought this new pair for breeding and as company for my black-faced male, Crackerino.
I separated the new pair from the cock for a couple of days so they could all get used to each other. The female called out to my bird while the new male stayed quiet. I was curious to see what would happen if I put Crackerino in there with the pair - no fighting, they didn't interact at all! The next day though, the new male was a bit off with Crackerino so I took him outta there.
I haven't put them together since and their cages are now side-by-side. The only problem is, the two males are getting a bit noisy and the female joins in sometimes. If I ever let Crackerino out of his cage, he flies onto the cage of the new pair and they try to bite him!
I'm curious to know, will Crackerino put the new pair off breeding? Should I move him into another room? Also, should I carry on looking for a new hen for Crackerino?
So many questions!
For anyone who's interested, here's a picture of my new pair! The cock is green and the hen is yellow. We've named them Bonnie & Clyde!
